Honestly, I'm just going to be blunt here. No nice-talk, no sugarcoating.
The problem is the developers' lack of understanding regarding the importance of a fine tuned match making, which I also believe is one of the major complaints on almost every platform. To them it might seem like a trivial issue with an overreaction from the people who complain about it. For me it's a massive frustration factor and brings me on the verge of deciding whether playing the game is good for me or not. Apex Legends is already a big exception for me as I'm usually playing a completely different kind of game/genre. (Co-op PvE games) - No other competitive PvP game is drawing me in.
And it's not just that I feel unfairly treated for constantly being paired with much better players. A lot of good players are frustrated for being paired with bad players. And we cannot say this isn't a commonly expressed problem. Every day we have a few topics popping up regarding the lack of SBMM. I find it hard to believe at this point that EA/Respawn isn't aware of this.
I get it, the SBMM is a system that is difficult to fine-tune. But there isn't a way around it. If you want every player to feel like they're paired with equals, you preferably want to spend the budged and time to fix this. New content is nice, but I can't appreciate it if there continue to be lingering issues, both minor and major. If you don't understand what I mean: You can always put a beautiful painting into your room. But if your room is very messy, no one will point out the nice painting, but how messy your room is.
Long story short: As long as matchmaking - and a lot of other issues - isn't fixed or at least attempted to be tinkered with, the whole game's experience will suffer from it. I don't care if the Dragon LMG will be really cool or if the new map is going to be a blast. If the whole meta game around it is a mess, I can't appreciate the work put behind these things.
And this is an issue that EA/Respawn has to tackle by themselves. I can't help them by saying "sure, I'll just deal with it". The game is frustrating and half of the situations are dragging the game down for my personal experience. There may be people that find a liking in this system, but I think I'm speaking for a ton of mid-tier players who have equal concerns.
