The mechanics are there for tactical play, it's not respawns fault you aren't using them. there is more than one way to play this game, it is not respawns fault you aren't using them.
You absolutely can take out fast characters with grenades you just aren't using them tactically. In order for them to be effective you need to be in choke points or buildings not open fields. ANY character can outrun a grenade in an open field. Could they implement a fuse mechanic? sure but then it would make it MORE like CoD and you complaint was it shouldn't be like CoD

Max movement speed so high? Say wah? 🤔 This game is slow af compared to what I'm used to; Quake, Unreal, Titanfall, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Paladins etc.
I think what you really want to play is Battlefield, they just released a BR mode, maybe try that game. This game is not for you if you think this game is too fast.
There are plenty of tactics in this game, the crazy plays you can pull off with all these abilities is endless.
PS: If you haven't managed to kill people with grenades yet, then you really haven't played the game enough, just the fact that you think Gebraltar runs slower than other characters shows your lack of knowledge for the game.
What do you mean you can't outplay someone with better aim? Pick up a threat scope, shoot a smoke grenade at them their aim is gone. Drop a portal when they're chasing you, run through said portal two or three times to confuse your enemy then wait at the other side, and shoot them in the back when they go through. Drop a launch pad to get on top of a building and just spam grenades at them until their dead. These are just some of the tactics I've used, the game has only been out for like a month, people are still learning the game. I have lost count of the amount of times I've been outplayed and duked by clever players that pull off some crazy * that I wasn't expecting.
No rescue mechanic? You do know that downed players can move through portals right? I've saved many lives by dropping a portal mid fight from a safe place to my downed enemy. Downed players can also use launch pads. And I can't be the only person that revives team mates whilst covering the area in smoke, even mid fight, it works try it. I'm sure they will add even more "rescue mechanics" with newer characters.
And if you think that the first squad to down an enemy wins the fight, you're just plain wrong. Even I have wiped a squad 1 v 3 when BOTH my team mates were down and I am trash at this game (at least that's what my random team mates keep telling me).
No offence man, but your whole post is just full of so much facepalm. You should really play the game more and learn what's possible, look outside the box.

Not if you spam grenades and arc stars in every single direction they can run. The amount of grenades you can spam is ridiculous. I can't believe these haven't been nerfed yet. I'm still puzzled as to why most of my randoms never pick up grenades. IMO if you're not picking up every arc star and grenade you can carry, you are playing the game wrong. I carry more grenades/stars than ammo stacks. I'll even sometimes drop shield cells and syringes to carry more.

if you are carrying that many grenades you have less ammo, shield cells, medkits etc

Yeah but I won't need em when my enemy is dead. I just take their gear and meds and I'm good to go. 2 stacks of ammo is enough to finish em off.
