I'm not trying to offend you here but i just can't imagine that some people can really be *that* bad that they profit from sbmm.
I mean i'm not good at all and the game somehow thinks it can feed me to the sharks.
And i'm pretty sure the majority here would agree with me.

I'll just put it here:
The graph of ranked distribution in season two:
Platinum + diamond + predators = less than 20% of the player base. I was in gold, my KD is approx. 0.5.
So I'm afraid, the majority wouldn't agree with you =))

Eh that means nothing, i also never play ranked. There are probably loads of people who COULD be pred/dia but just dont care to grind, and those are also sitting in the bronze/silver graph part 🙂
(I'm currently Gold because i thought i might try a bit ranked but it's just not my cup of tea)

Right, but wrong. If it was the case, we would have a "broken" graph with randomly distributed silver, gold and platinum players, or even a gap in the gold tier. But instead, we have a very smooth log-normal distribution curve. So this data may not reflect the actual player percentages but it is quite meaningful after all.
- 6 years ago@Kimsey02 If you are good enough to be Pred then you can play through to diamond just running through the lobby, your play style will not need to adhere to ranked slow play.

Yeah, this is something that most pro-SBMM people also misses. If there were no SBMM, the average casual match would follow the skill distribution of the players in the queue. So assuming that the skill distribution of players is similar to the rank distribution, then the average casual match without SBMM would have 3 bronze skilled players, 24 silver skilled, 21 gold skilled, 10 platinum, 1-3 diamonds and max 1 predator.
Ofc this isnt a very accurate estimation since the rank distribution ofc isnt exactly the same as the skill distribution in the casual queue, but I still believe it will look something similar. My point is that many pro-SBMM people believe that no SBMM means that every match will be flooded by predators, wrecking havoc on noobs, but according to the only available statistics that we have on skill distribution, the average match would be quite balanced with possibilities for bad players to get better and good players to not have to sweat themselves to death just to go 1 k/d,- 6 years ago

No. As a pro-SBMM I assume, that even one diamond player is too much in a noobs lobby.
Also, as an educator and ex-military instructor, I know that the near-impossible challenge leads only to frustration and learned helplessness and does not provide "with possibilities for bad players to get better".- 6 years ago
But without SBMM, there would not be any "noob lobbies" =). The average of each lobby would probably be around low gold. And one diamond player wont just auto-win against several teams of golds. To fight as a "silver skilled player" against a "gold skilled player" is in Apex, with all its RNG and quite low skill cap, not "near impossible challenge" at all, and same goes for a "gold skilled" player vs a diamond skilled player etc etc.And like I said, Im pro SBMM for the very very worse players, like those who literally just started to play FPS etc etc. What Im against is this current level of SBMM which basically makes my casual games feel exactly as competitive as ranked. Whats the point of having ranked and casual when they are the same?

I think the issue is not with the ranking tiers or the matchmaking system itself, but with the leveling and rewarding system.
Please take a look a this thread i started, feel free to contribute!
