Thoughts on the Launch Royale season update (and questions)
- After playing Launch Royale a few times
- Why were med items and grenades capacity reduced?
- Why was spare ammo capacity reduced?
- Why was Wraith's tactical nerfed to have a wind up time? I can hardly get a good escape cast off even without the wind up in launch royale.
- What was a Caustic Bunker trap? Was that in the bunker part of the map? I've yet to reach that spot. I was thinking it was an ability but his kit seems exactly the same. I made 2 hits with his ult but the damage was offscreen so I can't compare that to current yet.
- Edit: I watched a video. Also made it through that part of the map. It seems like the same bunker in modern. Perhaps it was the ability to stack caustic traps? I never actually tried that, even in modern. Actually, I did try that in OG, to get up a hill, but it bounced off the trap and landed beside it. Speaking of, why were some of those paths removed? Those things are fun!
- Edit: OOOHHHH, Invulnerable gas traps.... Sometimes I'm and idiot and don't read the new mode details. It's there plain as day.
- Edit: Big one: Why was the Round Timer reduced, and why was the ring closing time reduced so drastically? We can actually breathe and take in the sights of the OG map with the time we have, loot properly, position nicely, and aren't rushed into making a ton of mistakes like we are in modern. Please revert modern's timer to that of OG. I want to keep that. That alone gives me reason to continue playing Apex.
- Pathfinder's zipline had a lot more range and movement on it was slower than modern.
- The Ring Console was unique to Pathfinder.
- There was a bus station. I don't know why that was removed and replaced by Map Station when it could have just been added beside it.
- There were underground tunnels. I don't know why that was removed. It's fun.
- There were more advanced buildings. So much fun to climb. Some a little difficult but once you know where the spot is it's a bit easier. Or if you use path or octane.
- Octane: Jump pad has no double jump. I remember reading they had to add that later on, so makes sense. Low health regen. Low cost stim.
- I never did manage to start a revive as Lifeline.
- Back to the advanced buildings, I don't know why those were removed. It's so much fun!
- So much to explore! Enough time to explore it! That's what makes Royales fun. The modern royale dumbed down maps and hasty timers could use a rework, or unrework in some cases. Leave advanced structures. Let there be a long timer. If they want a fast match, they'll make it a fast match for themselves. You don't need to push them.
- Support Changes
- Lifeline: Cool. I'm sad we don't have care package anymore, but that new Ult does look fun. Like a less impressive dome shield (it has no top) that grants swifter med use (unlike dome).
- Gibby Dome change: mwehehehehe
- Gibby Arm Shield: Did it get a hidden buff? It seemed to actually protect me in a tdm match, then again I was crouching, but at least it wasn't onetapped like normal.
- Upgrades: yet to play current royale, so can't test that just yet, but they seem fun
- In Control as Gibraltar, the boosted small meds didnt seem to function.
- In TDM as Mirage, I never did get to use the small meds, but I saw an icon above it which I think is the icon for boosted. That was before the Gibby match.
- Likewise, I've yet to test the regen revive, but it looks fun. Speaking of, what happens to that perk under a Gold KDS? Does it convert to shield regen since health is fully restored by GoldKDS revive? That would probably be a good upgrade (not the word im looking for) to keep it still usable under that condition.
- The Wreckingball was designed as a counter to the dome shield, to my knowledge, so I don't understand why you disabled it's ability to break dome shield. Yet to test that but I read it in the patch notes. I am glad that EMP no longer deletes the dome though.
- And the infinite HP Mobile Shield, though that will be fun as I am a NewCastle main, I can already foresee people screaming bloody murder about it.
- Though the increase to his revive shield HP will be nice, I would have rathered its sides extended to his sides and about a 1ft extension on the top to help better protect him from circlers, because he can't turn near fast enough to counter their circling. That and I've had a horizon ride my revive shield like a surf board and pelt my brain while I revived an ally. A repulsion effect would be nice too. If I can make a drawing, I will, and I will attach it later if I can make it.
- https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1vZW86Z1ZqwG4hdiNuKb3dhAoyi19Xljm64zkLQVgVU8/edit?usp=sharing = Google Drawings, geometry put together to represent current shield and preferred shield, revive shields.
- Similarly, I wish knockdown shield had a similar drawn back extension to help combat strafers, because strafers strafe faster than they can rotate, at least on console.
- Merging of battpack and battery finder was a good Idea.
- Similarly, why not do the same for grenade finder and grant Fuse innate grenade finder into his passive?
- I read that Conduit got some expansions to her passive, looks lovely. Yet to test it.
- Mirage no longer has healthbar during Ultimate, cool. But, what about when he casts his Decoy while he has a healthbar? Will decoy also have a healthbar? If he has healthbar and hides then casts, will the healthbar swap to the decoy and get off of him? That would be a good add too.
I'm sad fortified was removed, I hope their hitboxes were reduced as well to make up for losing their bullet sponge resistance bonus.Nvmd, I mistook the OG royale notes as full game notes.- Cross form, I still wish Crypto could revive people via drone view. Effect is the same as a normal revive, but he's using the drone to do it instead of himself, allowing for retry if his drone gets destroyed instead of complete utter squad wipe for trying to do it in person.
- Watson getting an amplified revive will be fun.
- Assault
- I still wish Bangalore could get an amplified revive inside her healing smoke, if not her smoke in general. Potentially the same for Caustic heal gas as well.
- Still waiting for a better class trait than just extra ammo and red bins... Perhaps either extra nade? Less aim sway? Less aim flinch? Faster movement while aiming? Faster reloads? 15% keeps coming to mind....
- Skirmisher
- Would like another class perk besides care package insight. Perhaps like Bangalore's passive, or the old version of Conduit's passive? Something momentum based, but not game breaking. May or may not (probably not) stack with Octane's Stim.
- Still waiting for a Stalwart Shield legend. Riot Shield. Whatever you wanna call it. Brick Shield. Solid Shield. A shield that cannot be destroyed, but has its own drawbacks and limitations pertaining to its use.
- Q (tactical) toggles shield, while heavy arms equipped shield can only be on back. While light arms equipped, can toggle shield on to disable aim and aim trigger instead guards with shield. Shield intercepts bullets wherever it is. Crouching while guarding plants it in the ground and user cannot move, and can hardly rotate, but become immune to any forced movements or slows. For balance, intercepted shots might still do damage akin to breaker blade guarding. Legend has big hitbox like NewCastle, Gibby, and Caustic.
- Yes, shield has its own hitbox, that's what allows it to intercept bullets.
- In another thread, there is a person complaining about abandoners. I have similar complaints, but also a potential idea for rectification. Er, legend.
- This is a legend for those who are always getting abandoned.
- Shade/Shadow/Shadowmancer (name TBD)
- Passive:
- Can revive people 30 seconds after they are deathboxed, and can retrieve banners 30 seconds after it expires. Can do this as a shadow.
- Fallen allies respawn as shadows until they are respawned.
- Shadows respawn 15 seconds after they are killed.
- Shadows can revive allies, collect banners, and use respawn beacons. They cannot use weapons, armor, supplies, etc. No inventory. 100 HP and melee only.
- Due to shadows being able to revive allies, the squad is not eliminated when the last living member is downed. However, if the only ones left are shadows, everyone is shadows or deathboxes, then they are eliminated. If someone is still alive or can be revived and a shadow is alive to revive them, they are not eliminated.
- Lifeline's self revive was removed from the game. Otherwise I would have noted that in the above line.
- Tactical
- Current Idea: Summon a Shadow Prowler. Can permanently fill in a lost member's spot (abandon or solo que). When spots are full, it lasts a duration. Either way, they last until killed if it is killed before it expires.
- Because Ult also summons shadow prowlers, may be something else.
- Ultimate: Rise of the Pack (or other name)
- Summons 3 shadow prowlers, and up to 5 spectators as fellow allied shadows that phase right through your team as if they don't exist due to anti sabotage.
- Also instantly summons and claims ally banners, and up to 2-3 spectator banners if you have empty slots due to abandoners or solo (no fill) que. (May let caster choose which spectators to grab banners for, if any.) This lets you respawn any dead allies at a nearby beacon, and add spectators to your team to replace abandoners or choose who to fill. If they are a legend who is already on your squad, it will either skip them, or let them select a different legend if no one else is available to fill your squad.
- Shadow Spectators added to your squad will remain permanently and respawn due to being your squadmate. The rest will die when they are killed and return to spectating you, or if they have a limited duration then when the timer runs out if they aren't killed first.
- The quantity may be reduced in duos.
- This is a legend for those who are always getting abandoned.
