Thoughts on the new Storm Point

Question

Always nice to see some actual new content, and I've always liked Storm Point because of it's colours and theme. I was worried when the storm came because the devs have a habit of putting a lot of destruction and broken things on the maps, which gives them a poor vibe, but it seems like this has been kept to a minimum this time. Though, they couldn't resist completely.

Most of the POIs that were changed are ones that weren't used that much, which is good. Unfortunately all of them were changed to the same kind of 'weird futuristic' buildings that also plague Broken Moon. They are just kind of bland. Something I do like is that building that is being suspended by the crane. That is fun, and it makes me actually want to go there. The other buildings are mostly just kinda meh.

Storm Point seems to have changed from a vacation getaway to a 'need to make it competitive for the pros' map like Broken Moon. POI's that work well for competitive play but are otherwise not very inspiring. I'll have to wait and play the map before making a final judgement of course, but so far the changes don't really excite me.

I hope that if a new map will eventually be released that it is just cool. No matter if the pros like it or not. Hell, keep it out of tournaments all together, but just make it interesting.

That's a loss in my book."I think that is a very good point actually. Just because a POI isn't a heavy traffic point doesn't mean it's 'bad'. Just like a legends isn't bad just because the 0.1% pro players don't use them.This makes me wonder why a map is changed at ll. Why not just put the effort into creating new maps (or something else).

Just because you didn't use them, or even that they weren't used by many people, doesn't mean that no one did or that they served no purpose. This is a perfect example of a game feature that existed and allowed individual players to decide whether or how to use them. Now they've taken them away because, says the dev, it's better if we have less choice and are all coerced into playing the game in the exactly same way as the streamers and pros and the kids with short attention spans. My only concern from the short clip I watched, is the "Storm Point ENERGIZED" - Which I take the "energized" portion of it that I saw, and the electrifying graphics surrounding all the updated POI's... I assume that these areas will be riddled with more useless sounds that will drown out the important sounds needed to properly play a competitive BR. I assume as soon as we get even remotely close to these POI's, there will be a loud electric crackling sound constantly so you can't hear anything else.

I pray I am wrong... but I'm pretty sure that is exactly how it will go down. We have desperately needed many many useless sounds removed from the game... not more added in.

@Asmodeus566"I will reserve judgement until I have played the map..."Cooler heads prevail. It only took a few rounds to realize that the map may be smaller technically, but it still plays the same. The only significant loss, imo, is the southeast corner from the crash site up to the fishery. That was a great space for medium-to-long range fights, which are my bread and butter. But so it goes. Everything else is a break-even or an improvement.
