Love this topic.
Let’s look at some facts and make some good deductions. I’ve already seen some fair points raised by both sides.
Aim Assist is a toned down aimbot with some functionalities removed and smoothed.
The intent of Aim Assist is to level the playing field, allowing for cross platform competition.
Console players will almost never get into PC lobbies unless they team with one.
Aim Assist has become a staple of shooters and therefore has some peer pressure effects on developers.
The quality of analog sticks in controllers had gone down this is a purposeful decision made by manufacturers.
There are controllers that are good.
Most controllers are designed to fail.
Aim Assist provides a higher ground floor than PC, but has a much lower skill cap.
Using steam configs for controller in PC is a gross abuse of Aim Assist
Console controllers and PC are balanced from a weighted scale, but only by those means. (The same way a good player will be given two bricks for teammates and thats called good match making)
Aim Assist is a bandage for a bigger issue.
To remove Aim Assist, the skill cap on PC must also be lowered, then we will have a truly balanced system.

But one thing is not true at all, before you take another bite out of your big mac 🙂 : "The intent of Aim Assist is to level the playing field" - It was never the intent at all. Level the playing field of what? Another controller player? The issue here is cross play, and nothing was developed with it in mind, it was 2 platforms just basically meshed together, by request of the community no doubt, but a lazy job still. It just does not make sense to mesh such different things for a competitive game. Apex needs to decide if it's gonna be competitive or not, they need to stop sitting on the fence with this. Personally, I say they should just give up the comp scene, there are just too many unbalanced and broken stuff in the game already at this point to even consider it fair and competitive by anyone who values their sanity.

I thought for a game to be actually competitive in a healthy matter, you'd have to give each opposing forces the same benefits, gear and odds to ultimately extinguish who can put given resources best to use.
To me any BR can't really be competitive in that sense or at least i personally refuse to see it that way, there is just too much RNG involved in a way.
Unless we talk Arenas and stuff, i think that was the closest this game has gotten to competitive play. - @NitoTanaka You are 100% correct and I have been saying this for a long time. Br can never be truly competitive and the way the characters work and then trying to balance teams just adds insult to that further. Thing is they need to decide what they want Apex to be. They keep making changes and trying to stay in that delicious tournament landscape, but let's be honest...it's a meme at this point. Games like CS and Valo take 1st prize here, but then again they are incredibly boring.. Trying to be in this sphere and topping it off with cross play is just hilarious. The least they could do is separate the inputs, the game is skewed enough as it is.
