I sure do wish that my xbox controller behaved anything like these magical, mythical aimbot controllers people are always on about. I'd never leave the house.
  • @GAcc_SoundRise It's not the aim assist that's the problem, it's the players who use strike packs, (a controller add-on) or use xim (where they're able to plug in a mouse and keyboard and trick the console into thinking they're still using a controller which gives them a mouse aim + aim assist/no recoil).

I've tried aim assist on PC in PC only lobbies, cross-platform lobbies on PC/Console, and on console only lobbies on an Xbox. I've even used it on the Switch in the firing range, (I didn't really care to start a match on the Switch for some reason).

At no point did I find, (or even acknowledged) aim assist as being superior to mouse and keyboard, in fact it was more annoying to use and often gotten in the way.

The problem people keep complaining about isn't even a game mechanic, it's third party tools, add-ons, software, or wherever you're wanting to call it.

All aim assist does is help guide player's aim to targets, but not directly into a target.

Key word being "guide". At some point the aim assist would stop guiding your aim when you're outside a set range from the target and it also isn't like an aimbot, where it just locks onto a target perfectly; the player still has to guide the aim. The aim assist just makes hitting targets easier, as to not over or under shoot targets.

That's why there's sensitivity settings as well. Not everyone has the same steady aim or they move the analog sticks too fast.

People keep thinking this is how the aim assist currently works, and they couldn't be any more wrong: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pYF6NmcQBVI

Now here's some videos talking about how aim assist actually works, since players still can't seem to understand it:

Despite saying all this, I already know that there's still going to be new threads advocating against aim assist. But hey... to each their own opinion.
  • I think it's a big jump from "trying to fix aim assist" to instantly dividing the players.

  • @GAcc_SoundRise Where’s the poll that allows us to get rid of all the controller cry babies because they don’t want to face the fact that they’re just trash and don’t want to put in the hours to get better? Or is that one not out yet?
  • @reerex
Lol controller cry babies, yet you don't hear us complaining in forum after forum even though aim assist sucks on our end too.
"Yeah get rid of aim assist while pc gets to keep all of its movement advantages."
If aim assist is so op why am I getting matches with less than 100 damage?

Learn to recognize aimbot and modded controllers and stop throwing the real controller players in the pool with those kinds of players.

  • @GAcc_SoundRise I don't get it, I'm on mnk and I never think wow I lost because aim assist. In fact the only reason people ever lose fights is something they thremselves did or did not do. Even if you lose because you got lasered in the prime aim assist range it's your fault. It's usually pretty easy to tell when someone is benefiting from aim assist and you relocate to be really close or further away and they can't do much
  • Having 2 different inputs, one that is so handicapped it needs to be assisted with software should not be in the same server/lobby/round.
