@xXStatelessXxIt feels like they withhold heirlooms from vet players, and then goes "here you go love", to players who created an account like the last week and only opened their 3rd pack or something. I know a level 35 who opened about 15 packs, and got 3 heirlooms.
Yeah. I've seen that too and although unfair to us players that supported the game from day-1, I am not sure it rises to the level of a criminal act .
That being said, it has been stated in no uncertain terms that heirlooms are guaranteed within the opening of 500 packs. What I am saying is that I opened 501 packs yesterday and there were no heirloom shards (and this doesn't even count the packs I opened this season which would count toward the 500).
I contacted support and they freely admitted that they knew this was an issue. Hate to use such a heavy term, but if they know about the issue and allowed it to continue unabated, there is a term for that - Fraud.
- @xXStatelessXx I've opened around 300 or so packs, and I still have yet to get an heirloom. Its no 500, but the thing is, 90% of the time, its common or rare items, 9% of the time is epic items, and that last 1% is a legendary, but usually pointless item.
Its favorite thing to give me is quips, poses, frames, etc. for legends that I don't really use and they're all the "common" ones. When it does give me an epic or legendary item, its usually a skin for a legend I don't use, a weird looking pose/frame that I wouldn't otherwise craft, etc. The only legendary items that I got that I wanted were a finisher for Wraith and Loba, as well as a skin from an event pack. Every other legendary items, were more or less "meh" items to me.
Seriously though, I mostly use Wraith, Pathfinder, Lifeline, and Bloodhound. The game gives me pretty much everything for Octane, Gibraltar, Caustic and Mirage mainly. Its mostly Caustic and Octane items. Never understood why a "random loot box" is giving me what appears to be a not-so-random items?Simply put, it is not a good loot system. It is the reason why there are 3 separate class action lawsuits against EA currently.
Someone didnt really fully bake how the loot system works and what the long term limitations would be for Respawn.
To your point, do you really need 30 common skins for the same character if you have a legendary skin you like? Same with other items. How often do you change a character's banner?
It is truly baffling to me how the devs are world-class developers and produce a technically mind-bending complex game, yet the marketing folks in the company failed so miserably at monetization of the game.
If you are looking for an heirloom, i wouldnt open any more packs until they fix the "known" issues preventing people from getting them.
- @xXStatelessXx I rarely buy packs. I only ever buy packs when I really (and I mean, really) wanted an event skin. I don't need 30 common skins, I rarely change character banners as well.
