In my experience the meta weapons are meta because they're the weapons that work best for algs players. I'm not an algs player, and even at my lowly level no two players react the same way to the same gun and that means they get radically different results from each other and from the pros. What works for player x may not work at all for player y. @TheRedLion93 pointed out the lethality of burst fire weapons in this game, and they are brutal to face. If the guy firing them has perfect aim. I guess what I'm saying is, don't choose a weapon that only works in perfect conditions unless you have perfect aim. And if you have perfect aim then I'm pretty sure it doesn't really matter which gun you pick up.
