What is the field of protection on knockdown shields?

I have my field of view on 80, I see a bloodhound and I go to block their shots. They fire and obliterate me, the shots visually going through my knockdown shield. They appeared to have hit my shie...

Need a topdown photo of knocked down player, then can really grab the degrees of protection.
Maybe even draw an expansion for what we'd prefer as its size.
I feel like its no more than 60 degrees.
It'll fill your First Person FoV, but it hardly shields ya.
Ya try to block, but they double back and shoot you in your newly exposed side.
So much for useful shield.
The only ones it guards against are the more lax players, or not so violent ones. Or the ones who are so far away they can't wreck you like that.

@Zulkiers If you can get a friend into the firing range, you can knock them and look at them from above to get a better understanding of how much it protects in a match where no one would bother you.
