What TSM Viss thinks about the current SBMM in casual

and I totally agree. If you want to play against people at your own skill level, regardless how bad or good you are, then play ranked.  Thats exactly what ranked is, a mode where you compete against equally skilled players.

And to sum it up people who wants this sbmm  in casual:

SBMM in casual is such a slap in the face for people who worked to achieve a certain skill in this game. Lets say, simplified but for the sake of the argument, that skill is represented by your K/D. So now, after 700 hours and over 4000 matches of Apex, have I reached the skill level of approx 3 K/D. Its not god-tier in any ways, but that is where I am right now. I wasnt born with that, actually I was quite bad in the beginning but I got my butt kicked over and over (in Skulltown 😉 ) and gradually got better until this point that I on average kill 3 times more than I die. But now, because of this SBMM, all that work means nothing since everyone I fight is about my skill thus making my "effective" skill or K/D go towards 1. All my progression to get "better" means nothing since "better" is relative and currently, Im not better than my opponents, Im equal.

I hope that more influential streamers speak up against it.

  • @Boa767No you dont get it at all, I am quite newbie at the game but I get no sense of progression at all in public, I only get my new ranks in ranked to indikate im getting better (or am I, I have no idea really). As is now I feel like I get worse and worse in public because the ranking system seems to use my ranked progress into the equation for my public solo queue, which is insane.

What I am able to do with a tactical trained team we been working our * off to be able to progress with, is not what I am capable to do alone. And the people I meet in public seem to have 10 times my kills and wins overall so there is something very very wrong with the system.

I wish they stopped the matchmaking stuff in public, would rather make a newbie type game where you have to be under lvl 5 or so to enter queueing, something like the bot infested matchmaking of fortnite in your first few games you play there. Because you don't really play very long with nubs before you stagnate in progress as you need to group with more skilled people to learn, and people that is less proficient then you to actually get motivation as you see your progress. I had no problem at all with the old queuing when I started this game a month back, the thing that push people away is unfair monetation and no real earnback for heavy investment in the game and hard battlepass levling compared to the competition. I started Fortnite with my daughter at the same time as I started Apex for my own sake (I am no big fan of fortnite) and in less time invested we completed the battlepass levling, on top of that they had a very cool feature of the battlepass where you got a set of challenges which would in turn open prizes so it gives incentive to play more while for the no resistance players still was able to max out by just grinding levels in a casual amount of time.

All in all the state of my gaming in Apex I do my dailies now in public only when my team mates aren't online, I do not play recreational anymore, I do not experiment in public with different areas of the map or different weapon setups anymore, I do not really have a possibility to learn new ways of play to be able to progress into higher ranked play as I pretty much get stomped instantly when trying the meta gamepley suggestions. I do however play ranked when my buddies bother play Apex as they refuse playing public at any level. I also play 1v1 FF in shooting range with my daughter to practice dodgeing and thats it.

I went from 3-4 hours+ a day of apex to a mere hour'(timeboxed), so whatever dailies arent done in that time I dont give a * about, oh and if the dailies are done in 15 minutes then that is the days playtime.

  • @Boa767 Hey buddy I'd like to see how well you fare when all of your Public lobbies have endings like this

It's easy for low tier players to think SBMM is a good thing for the game, but this is the aspect they are completely oblivious too. Once you get to a certain level of play, which many of you in favor if SBMM will never achieve, this is how ever single "casual" game ends. There is legitimately no in game difference between this and ranked, other than the points system...
