Because Apex is the only major BR with a clear niche of team based characters.

I wonder how popular/high in demand solos even is. Only because you get a couple of threads on this forum about it and some likes and "me too" clicks doesnt mean that Respawn is doing something wrong. I have even started to recognize the same usernames on these "pro solos"-threads.
I think that IF solos was a permanent mode, some people would play it for sure, but after a couple of game, running around, looting and finally encounter another solo and maybe win, maybe lose, they would get tired of that and start jumping super hot just to get some action. So every solo match would be one huge hot drop in the beginning of the drop ship path where 70-80% of the entire lobby dies, followed with 10-15 minutes of a handful of survivors, spread out all over a huge first circle, trying to find someone to fight. After a while people would get tired of this and either start playing squads again or even quit playing the game.
Thats just my "feeling" towards solos. I played it when it was a LTM and felt exactly what I said above.. And guess what? Respawn did actually release an official statement about Solos and said that player retention was the main problem with the mode and thats why they wont add it... Remember that Respawn have all the statistics; not we. If they say the mode was harmful for the game, I think its much smarter to believe that to be true, rather than speculating about a "hidden and evil Respawn conspiracy to deny players Solos even though its in super high demand" =)

Yes there are a select couple characters that wouldn't be good in solos because of theit team abilities, but the majority of the characters can be played just as well in solos.
What you are describing about hot drops leading to big circles with no fighting, that happens in trios a lot currently and if thats not hurting the game then adding solos with that happening won't do it either.
I personally know a couple of people who have quit the game because of the no solos option and adding solos would greatly improve the team based games as well. Do you play duos in a random que? How many times have you had your teammate drop by themselves and then leave you when they die, or die immediately and leave making you a solo anyway? Most of those players would move to solos.
Before crossplay, the arguement that was made that adding solos would hurt the game because que times would be longer was valid, but with crossplay I fail to see how adding a solos mode would hurt the game as a whole. Selfish players move to that que, players who don't play because there are no solos come back, and players that don't want to random que benefit. I do remember that statement but that was also before crossplay. The solos LTM was thoroughly enjoyable, and I know I'm not alone in that sentiment.

@E9ine_ACThey probably based their findings off of 2019 shadowfall event, that was the worst ‘’solos’’ game mode I have ever played in my life who in their right mind would give a team of shadows unlimited respawns to repeatedly skydive on to you over and over and over with death markers for your exact location... of course players were teaming together.... who wouldn’t in that situation? Everyone became teammates in the final 10 anyways so teaming wasn’t even a big issue in that mode its not like it was a real battle royale mode
Everytime I tried to fight any other player on that mode I would instantly be punished by a hoard of skydiving shadows to punch the crap out of me so I ended up mostly camping above a door next to the dropship just to have a chance to escape... thats NOT what we want when we ask for solos we want the iron crown event where I personally only encountered one trio of gibralters teaming together which isn’t a problem considerring I drop solo in trios everyday whats the difference? Its still 1 v 2 or 1 v 3 so if teaming ever does happen on solos who cares just add a report option to report them its that simple
you all have to agree with me on one thing, wether you personally like solos or not you would not be forced to play it... if you would rather play with randoms like me dropping solo, rage quitting as soon as they are downed, etc that want to play solo but are being forced to be with other players than go ahead be miserable with randoms everyday but If solos was an option, even a no fill option, we would get what we want which would give you what you want... a group of randoms who actually WANT to play as a duo/trio together
Sometimes I actually enjoy playing with randoms and other times I just want to do my own thing and don’t care about winning the match, sadly Im not able to do my own thing without ruining the experience for other players and I do not blame myself I blame Respawn/EA for not giving us an option to be lone wolves

I am not really trying to argue whether or not solos would hurt the game or not since its impossible for me to say. "Hurting the game" are not my words; its Respawns explanation why they wont add solos as a permanent mode and they base it on their collected data from the Solo LTM, and the main reason was "player retention". I just tried to say that I could understand Respawns reasons for their motivation based on my own experience after the Solos LTM.
But I really understand that Apex much be a nightmare for people who wants to play like a team but for some reason cant or wont play with premades. I like to play solo when I just wanna frag and not care but I also have the luxury to pretty much ALWAYS have a premade team ready both for casual and ranked.

Let's do some critical thinking for a second, the statement from respawn had a vague "hurt new player retention" reasoning as well as talking about some legends being useless.
Hurt new player retention? It was a two week long optional event, how could that hurt new player retention anymore then any of the ridiculous LTMs that were added? No one was being forced to play solos, so what maybe que times were an issue? Since then they have added crossplay which drastically improved que times. So what arguement can be made about new player retention? Especially since they have never put solos back in as a test since that event 1.5 years ago.
Some legends being useless, the only one I can think of for this is lifeline. Her abilities are purely team based especially since they removed her fast healing. But other than her, what other legend is useless solo? I got a win on every legend during that event and lifeline was the only one that felt useless.
What about the ways it can improve this game? Why not at the very least add solos for a season and get some real data in? Since respawn refuses to punish players who hurt their team (outside of ranked) solos needs to be added.
Its great that you have groups that you can play with that are all on your level, I don't have that and its not from lack of trying. Just because you can play with a solid premade team, why should solos not be added for those who don't have that option? I never thought that I speak for the community as a whole, but I know a lot of people with this sentiment.

This is a bad take. Let me pretend your argument isn't terrible for a second and seriously consider the idea that this is a team based game.
If I created a team based game (i.e. one that was meant to be played with 1 or more characters) I would consider punishing people leaving matches early. The number of times I see people leave IMMEDIATELY after being downed is something like 60%. They drop, get downed within 30 seconds and are gone within seconds. Those people get to leave and start a new game where perhaps their luck will be better (probably not, they are likely trash). I get left short one member. If Trios, once one person leaves, chances of the second person leaving skyrockets, leaving me alone in a trios game.
I'm good enough that I can take on two people (sometimes simultaneously with the right set up) but three is generally too many for me to consistently pull off. I have 2 options.
1. Continue the game alone at a significant disadvantage
2. Leave the game as well.
Meanwhile the people that leave suffer exactly ZERO consequences. You might even say that are better off. Often the length of time it takes to get revived is longer than simply getting in a new game. Also, when being revived, you have painted a giant "COME F$%^ ME" sign on your back, which generally will lead to a lower KDA.
If they care about "team" anything, why is this the case?

I said that Apex is a game with team based characters. The OP implied that Apex SHOULD have solos only because all other major BRs have it (which is a ridiculous argument/logic to begin with); I just replied that Apex also is the only major BR that has the "hero approach", i.e different characters with unique traits and abilities that are tweaked to be balanced in a team game, not for solo modes.
And just for the record; Apex is a team based game IF you play it like any team based game should be played, i.e with a team. Get some premades and you will have a great time as a team. I think its just silly to complain about the lack of team play if you choose to jump into games as a solos and randomly get matched with two strangers, most likely with other ideas and preferences how to play this game.
