Where the [Admin - Removed] are the Caustic buffs?

It makes absolutely no sense to not give buffs to Caustic.

He was “decent” on kings canyon but on this new map his uselessness has pretty much increase because of the ridiculous amounts of outdoor terrain, he is basically useless on open fields.

His abilities are really bad compared to almost every other legend, he has no mobility or defensive capabilities, and his ofensive abilities (nox gas) are completly over shadowed by the fact that a single of bangalore’s or gibraltar’s ult will probably do way more damage than all the nox gas damage you do in a single match, getting good damage from the gas is actually pretty hard to get against enemies that are not braindead.

If you are going to argue that his traps are for creating space instead of doing good damage, then the WHOLE design behind Caustic is flawed and makes no sense..

The fact that you can destroy his traps by firing a single bullet to the bottom of the canister makes him even more useless, HOW THE F#CK do you expect Caustic to fulfill his job as a “TANK” who creates space by placing traps that are supposed to be a threat to the enemy when they can simply destroy his canisters 100 times faster than the trap arms itself ????? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!!

Enemies that are not braindead are not scared of his gas, they are just annoyed bit it, just like the players in your team.

Ive seen enemies in a room full of gas taking their time killing me or my squad for like 10 full seconds of gas damage, you would think that for a legend that is suposed to create space with his abilities you would see the enemies desperately trying to get out of his gas but they couldnt care less about it, they can just charge in and kill you.

Bloodhound got a buff, bangalore got a buff, Mirage got some quality of life changes, EVEN gibraltar got some pretty good buffs,

BUT SOMEHOW CAUSTIC, ONE OF THE LEAST USED LEGENDS IN THE GAME, GETS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

Definitely. As a caustic main being caustic in this map is really underpowered. Even gilbratrar has a buff up where he can heal faster in his dome shield. Maybe we can get a last buff that we move faster in our gas to overcome the small gas radius that our canisters have so as to be able to hunt enemies in a more efficient way.

@FMA1498 If they won't be bringing back Kings Canyon anytime soon then a range and deployment time buff wouldn't hurt at all, there are battlepass challenges asking us to get nox damage but I'm afraid to even pick him after the update because whenever I see a Caustic on my team or the enemies team he doesn't survive for very long.

Gibby was already pretty good after his passive buff but he got even more buffs this patch so it indeed doesn't make sense that Caustic and maybe Bloodhound wouldn't get any love. Though if you want a reason as to why they're hesitant to buff Caustic I guess I'd just look through this very subforum and see the amount of noobs making threads like "Caustic OP plz nerf" and you can guess why he isn't buffed lol

And he would fit my playstyle

But outside SPECIFIC situations, his abilities are trash
The canisters have no range, both for damage and activation

The following are the changes I would make, since he's pretty much worthless outside of niche situations at the moment.
1: The most important one, that we can all agree on, is that his gas SHOULD NOT AFFECT TEAMMATES AT ALL. It's unbelievable that there's a legend that, in a team-based game with no TKing, can negatively impact his own team simply by using his only abilities. And it's not a small inconvenience, if your teammates are caught in your gas and the enemies aren't, you just lost that fight 9 times out of 10. Needs to be fixed as soon as possible, because this is the main thing keeping him from being viable imho.
2: Slightly increase the radius of his ultimate gas, or slightly increase its damage. (Either 5 yards more or 3 more damage per tick.)
3: Increase the range at which he can throw traps very slightly, as a lot of the time even throwing a trap onto the roof of a 1 story building is impossible, even if you're near the roof.
Even with these changes I don't think he would be meta, but he wouldn't be an anchor holding your team back from a win because he threw his ult wrong.

@MrNyahr Hell yea. 1 buff that would be great would be like Wattson ability where the gas would also have after effects of stun

@CrazyPlays54 His gas cloud ultimate could cover a lot larger area and be taller, for one. In World's Edge he is beyond useless in the open, so if you play as him you have to stick to enclosed structures - which only works if your teammates also agree to this plan.

Caustic gas should cause more damage per tick, with the tradeoff being it lasts a shorter duration. As someone else here mentioned, I've set off his gas ultimate and had opponents saunter in, walk through the gas and even perform a finisher move, all without taking much damage. The little number damages floating by them like -9 doesn't really inspire fear.

The disorientation effect of the gas should be increased too.

One thing they could do that might make the traps cooler is once you have 5 of the Nox canisters up, say, they have an invisible electronic eye between them that sets them all off if the beam is broken. More like a laser trip mine. I've seen players walk really close to a canister and not set it off, so maybe the sensitivity can be increased too.

The gas needs more range. Like way more range. Even if they nerf them down to 4 or 5 that would still be better. Then double or triple the range. When I blow a gas canister I should be completely invisible to my enemies. And dead on with it not hurting your team. It’s maddening that his gas hurts your team mate. To make him viable. Buff the canisters and give double or triple the range (even if it means going down to 4 or 5 instead of 6). Fix it to wear team mates are not affected by the gas. And my last fix is for his ultimate don’t have it be just one grenade. He should be able to throw multiple gas grandes wherever he chooses. His goal should be locking down areas and creating space. I love the design and he fits my playstyle perfectly. He just needs a few changes and he would be amazing. And for god sakes please make him tougher. He goes down literally just as easily as Lifeline. He’s marked as tank he should be able to take hits much more easily. Not Gibraltar level but near it. He’s such a huge target and easy to hit so please buff his tank.

@Tylerman2400 The gas would be incredibly overpowered and unpushable if his teammates can go through his gas with no ill effects at all. I think teammates should have a small window where they are not effected by the slow so that they can retreat through it or push out of it, but if they stay in it they get the same slow effect.

@FMA1498 Caustic has a lot of defense. Enemies shouldn’t be walking through your gas, and as a Caustic, you shouldn’t let them. The gas gives you a pretty big advantage if an enemy is in it, so use it. It’s mainly area denial, not straight up damage. You may not be able to get the same damage as ults, but that’s more because a) Bangalore and Gibraltar don’t have any other damaging abilities, and b) enemies won’t just walk straight into your traps/it’s not going to instakill them.
That leads me to my next point, the damage. How much damage do you think it should do? It shouldn’t do that much, or else it’ll do ridiculous amounts of damage.
He also isn’t a “tank”. He is a defensive trap character. This isn’t overwatch, he doesn’t have to create space. He gate keeps enemies. Also, the fortified perk doesn’t make him instantly a tanky defensive character, it’s just because he happens to have a bigger hitbox. Wattson is also a trap character, but she is smaller and has the Low Profile perk.
Caustic hasn’t gotten a buff, but he also hasn’t gotten nerfs. (At least any I can think of.) This means Respawn thinks he is somewhat balanced.
Bangalore got a nerf, (a while ago) that reduced her smoke to only two charges.
Usage doesn’t exactly mean they are underpowered. A big factor is that Caustic’s play style is more camping in a house which isn’t as appealing as say, grappling or moving 30% faster.

Despite this, I’m not against a Caustic buff. I think it would be interesting if Caustic got a buff. Definitely no nerfs though.
