Imagine playing a game for the fun of playing a game.
Not to "grind" or "sweat" to complete something for a pixel reward.
Or stop playing because you dont want to make a microtransaction thats completely unrelated to whether you can play the game or not.
Please wake up from your pixel FOMO.
IMO the best you can do is to keep playing but not buy the BP.
Devs get data of high player number generating low profit to show to the execs that this change in fact was a stupid idea.
@Airish85 The problem isn't because of FOMO at all. My point is they're trying to get more money out of people while they don't fix issues with the game, such as the cheating situation.
While you say, "missing out on the battle pass doesn't stop you from playing the game", (and it is true), there's still no real point in playing when we're just going to die to a cheater almost every single match or get kicked/lagged out by the awful servers, or even not hear someone running up behind us due to the audio not working properly. If the game is unplayable, it makes not having the battle pass less worth it to play the game.
I did also say I could ignore the battle pass and still play the game, but with it also being one of the few reasons why I play, that's another issue with it. Before you say there's a "free battle pass", that doesn't really mean a whole lot to me and most likely for a lot of players.
You can't expect people to remain interested in something if there's nothing to earn or to progress through in a way that matters to them while the game is being neglected by EA/Respawn. One example is that they added weapon progression, but it was implemented in such a grindy way, that most just forget it exists. I focused on it for about a week and then instantly stopped caring as I saw cheaters running around with 3 level 50+ weapon badges for guns like the R99, Wingman, and Sentinel. (Which just shows how much they are able to cheat without getting banned).
The TL;DR here, the game isn't really "playable", its far from it. Any bit of reason to still play goes a long way, but if EA and Respawn are going to keep trying to drain players of money while refusing to fix any of the issues, player's FOMO would be the least of anyone's worry.

@Midnight9746
Bro, dont you think if fixing the cheater situation would be easy they had not already done it? Can you name even one online game that doesnt have a cheaters?
Cheat developers make more money than the game devs. Cheat development companies have multiple times bigger profit % than EA or Respawn.
Yes, you are speaking about the majority of players. Thats the trick of EOMM. To get you playing more because you have to achieve certain level/stats to get a rewarded.
I am old enough to remember playing games for the fun of them. Fun was the reward. I guess that makes me different from the majority of playerbase. Game treats you poorly and you still play to get the rewards. You feel miserable after playing the game but hey heres your new purple banner or legendary rampage skin that doubles the visual clutter around the crosshair when you shoot it and has discolights on it for everyone to see you from other side of the map.
Again I am just a player / observer in this situation but just out of curiosity how would you make money for EA with Apex? You do understand that their only income from Apex is the microtransactions. This BP change suggests that old system isnt providing enough money to meet the demands. So how would YOU make the money so that there is no discrimination or Pay-to-Win to keep competitive integrity? And kind reminder you will lose your job if you dont come up with a solution to make X target profits.- reconzero1 year agoSeasoned Ace@Airish85

Amen, brother. Amen.
"So how would YOU make the money so that there is no discrimination or Pay-to-Win to keep competitive integrity?"
This is the question we should have been asking from the start, and yet at the same time the question as it's phrased rules out the one obvious answer. The obvious answer to me is to look at all the money cheat makers are taking in... and take it back. Make and sell the cheats yourself. Have them be off limits in ranked modes and good to go in pubs. Obviously on the understanding that anything that makes you better at the game will improve your mmr and matchmaking will find you enemies accordingly. So in reality no appreciable benefit, and yet people would line up to shell out any amount for a perceived boost even if the developer made it plain that the actual result would be tougher matches.
I'm sure there are consequences here that I haven't fully thought through, but I keep coming back to the analogy of illegal drugs. Make them legal, tax the living daylights out of them. Everybody wins.- 1 year agoIf they were making these changes with any level of transparency AND/OR intention to improve the game I'm sure the response wouldn't be this strong.
If they would tell us that they would actually invest X% back into the game. That XYZ would be worked toward and eventually fixed, most players would jump at the opportunity to help the game get better. Why don't they tell us these things? Either because they're "brain dead" OR because they don't intent to actually invest anything reasonable back into the game they just want to pad their wallets and improve shareholder dividends.
I get that people say that buying the BP with coins each season doesn't earn them money but that doesn't take into account that the health of the game depends on those consistent players that stick around for the whales and others to play against. Time = money and putting time back into the game means the player base is healthier and eventually as people feel like the game has earned it they will spend money.
I've been a player since S2 and put thousands of hours and despite paying for most of my BP's with coins, I've also put $350+ into this game. My wife and I are uninstalling until they revert this change. I don't expect things to turn around but I really hope they will. If you treat people like objects to be taken advantage of they'll just leave.
