Doesn't need to - happens constantly. I get a mastiff, hit people 2 feet from me - * all damage, and they in grey shields; but me, in full purple - two/three shots, I'm down.
Happened me just yesterday, full purple, using a devo - hit a guy full on in a grey shield, he had a mastiff - guess who lost. Me.

I'm by no means a good player, but come on like.
And I know the mastiff is OP, but that makes it an even better example.
