In other words, its like putting the top ranking player into a match with players who are playing casually or are new to the game. The pred is going to wipe the whole floor with everyone because in terms of skills, they're 100x better than everyone else.
The matchmaking needs to be fair in all modes, but pubs doesn't have a fair matchmaking, it mixes players way too much, and ranked doesn't care if you're new to the game or not.
@Midnight9746"The matchmaking needs to be fair in all modes" Well what do mean by fair exactly ? Are you advocating that everyone wins at the same rate and has precisely the same experience in the game no matter their effort or skill, and no matter the game mode? What's the point of a ranked mode and a non ranked mode? What's the point of becoming good at a game if it's seen negatively as "pub stomping" when faced with a random sampling of the population?

To me, it be fair if in pubs, you face players around your skill level, or at least not too far off, such as a plat player being in a lobby with masters. Its not fair if you're a high skilled player and you're put into a lobby with players who are new to the game or don't play a whole lot. As for rank, the differences between everyone's skills should be as close as possible, such as a gold player playing with plat players, and not diamonds and above or silver and below. Then with mixtape, it shouldn't be a pro player in a match with casuals. Mixtape is more of a fun warm-up mode, you can't really do that when you're getting destroyed by high ranked players.
TLDR;
Pubs - Skills varry, but its not a new player vs pro match
Ranked - Skills slightly varry, players more at each other's skill level
Mixtape - Skills varry, however teams are balanced so its not just one sided, (its not fun in games like control and TDM)- Twizted3k_tv2 years agoRising Adventurer
I don't disagree. Truly fair is a free for all in my opinion, if we're all playing the same game, the best rise to the top. Different platforms mixing, control methods mixing, and the forming of teams muddy the waters of fair so I can see the justification for some SBMM.
But the level of of SBMM has been pretty much what you described up until the last week, and that was fine. Ranked felt like a non stop sweat fest once ranked up, and pubs was much more varied. Rarely did I ever run into truly new players. Now with the new system, pubs is a non-stop sweat fest just like ranked is, so my question at the start of this thread remains.

- 2 years ago@Midnight9746 honestly Twizted3K really has a point here. What's the point in becoming good at a game if people just say its 'pubstomping' and bullying worse players in pubs... the people who are better sunk time and effort into the game to become better, so they should be winning more fights against average players in pubs! Ranked is where players that are working on improving should be tested against players of similar skill levels, pubs should be a random pool of all skill levels, so players have a varied experience each game, rather than every match playing out exactly the same every time.
