- @Android_Nana I heard rumors that in season 10 there were talks that paid accounts will be introduced as a fix for this issue or at least forcing smurfers to increase EA revenues.
Let's see how it goes, maybe in season 12 :D even though I am not 100% sure about the efficiency of this invention given the sums mentioned were 10$ which is not too much especially if you create accounts to boost them (in many cases via hacking) and cash in so much more than 10$ on regular basis for it.
Also given the fact that any account can be banned for pretty much anything at any point in time for people who don't want to spend money or just do not have it such system will mean end of story for Apex...
I would rather appreciate an approach where games, lobbies, ranks are just player account level limited e.g. there are some discord groups that have such system already for LFG and it works just fine. Yes that will limit some people who transfer from other FPS and natural-born talents, yet neither system is ideal and there will always be collateral damage so in my opinion such tradeoff would be worth it and we will not see <100 level ppl in Diamond+ lobbies hopefully they will also get bored fast of stomping in lower level lobbies knowing that say they will need to spend 100+h to get to Platinum or Diamond = time needed to get to say level 200-500. @EREGDSpay2play would be a solution for ranked but not for pubs, I think ranked should just have a level 100 requirement because its not too difficult to achieve for newer players but also gives players enough time to learn the game before attempting ranked while also making it more difficult for smurfs/hackers to get into ranked to jump straight into predator lobbies
Personally I think there just needs to be a limit of EA accounts per household, like idk 5? Larger families may run into issues but there needs to be some sort of a limit for smurf accounts... they should also change the 4k 20 bomb badge to where you can’t earn it inside of newer lobbies and you have to actually enter a lobby of your determined skill level to earn it... of course people will try to act like bots to get into easier lobbies still but the point is the 4k and 20 bomb need to be restricted because theres really no downsides to making a smurf account... you get easy 4k 20 bombs, you have easier opponents, you get to earn free apex packs and potentially unlock a new heirloom, etc and if they actually did manage to get banned they can just start all over again on a new account and thats the same issue with the hacker situationNewer accounts need to be stricter... most everyone has already made an EA account sometime in their life for some game so it wouldn’t really be hurting newer players coming to the game too much imo but apex really needs to add cross progression so you don’t need a separate EA account per system

I liked the idea of Pay to Play Rank but I think what they suggested (10$ for life fee) is not enough, they would still pay 10$ for their smurfs I would rather suggest buying the battle pass as a requirment to play rank, battle pass is only 10$ for 3 whole months... still very cheap. - @TheApexLegendNub personally I will never pay for the game that is in beta testing, sorry those days when you buy a game or CD (yeah I am that old) and realize that install.exe even can't run or in the middle of installation you get some error are ower.
Now the competition requires either free2play or really really good development and testing that can be actually sold to the public.
Also, I don't see how payment even for bugless Apex would solve anything to be honest - as said before people who spend money on Apex will probably find an extra 10$ to create smurf account and all it will do is boost EAs profits.
As for limitations - there is no certain way to identify households, many ISPs have changing IP ranges, many use VPNs, and there you go, no way to identify anything (as far as I know 🙂 ).
As said before I would start with really drastic rank limitations per level e.g. Diamond+ only level 500+ at the same time removing tier protection so that smurfs even if boosted would either have to remain inactive or get demoted. - @Palette24carats would you buy a semi-working pen to write or keyboard missing quite a bit of its keys for "cheap" be it 10 or 5 or 1$?
It might sound cheap for a person who earns idk 1000$ a month and live with parents, but for a kid who has no income or a person who lives from salary to salary and play games because he/she can't afford any other hobby, even 10$ is something they might not have on hand even over 3 months.
So yeah discrimination via money/payments is ok, the rest forms of discrimination are bannable, taboo, publicly debatable topics, etc. Think about it from a bit more global perspective 🙂 - @Android_Nana Its not bad. Its the same percentage of games getting interfere by murfs and hack as always. Now its just more people playing.dont forget most of the times people's reports are wrong. Sometimes people get lucky or have good games
- @Palette24carats The thing is that it would still technically be $10 for life assuming you spent $10 once and then saved your 1000 apex coins you earned from each battlepass to buy the next one
- @EREGDS Thats why i think a level requirement would be the best way to go about it so you can’t simply create a new account and jump straight into ranked you would need to play until level 100 and hopefully by then the account would be banned for cheating/smurfing
- Palette24carats4 years agoSeasoned Ace@EREGDS if they can't pay 10$ means they play for fun , they can still play pubs

Respawn are sneaky. I dont think they explicitly said that smurfing is bannable even if they added a report option for it. Same goes for the very subjective term "sabotage".... Actually, in the TOS of Apex, only four main categories of bannable offenses are listed: cheating, making false claims to EA representatives, hack accounts and lastly trolling by "hate speech and offensive behavior. I mean just think about it; they purposly set the min required level for ranked to 10 even though an "actual" level 10 player, i.e first time level 10, have no business in ranked what so ever. They even have a built in smurfing feature i.e soft resets. How could they make smurfing illegal when the game design itself invites people to smurf in ranked?
The report option is most likely there to protect smurfs from getting too many false reports of cheating. Now, people will report obvious smurfs for smurfing, reports that leads straight to the trash bin =)
