@apostolateofDOOM"welcome to the nitpicking convention" 🙂
In all honesty, I think you're one of the most negative people around here at this point. Great numbers that most studios can only dream of? Incredibly healthy user acquisition at very low costs and despite the fact that this game is targeted to a hardcore audience ? Let's slam them to the ground and drag them through the mud!
Giant (Lesie K)nope on this one. It is definitely not targeted towards hardcore audience xD. It might’ve started off as that... but along the way it turned into more of a casual setting with a hardcore audience staying...
Even patch notes paint a good picture when they were speaking of wanting players to take a scenic route for instance and taking away stuff only the hardest of cores did...
The game has a good and steep learning curve that keeps getting snowed in by the devs to the point that the slope is gradually turning into a level course.

@Koochi-Q I love the maps and am still in awe that this type of game is possible. I love exploring them. One of my favorite things to do is zooming in on the maps from above, while in the jump ship, lovely scenic view there 😃

@OldTreeCreeperI can see that. The maps look alright (I’m more of a SP person so the maps I’m accustomed to are far more detailed, rich and lovely) so I can see why ppl would look around and there’s almost nothing wrong with that (except the fact that some ppl are so into looking at the scenery while their teammate is getting ganged upon by 2 enemy teams and pinging and requesting help, kinda like here: https://archive.org/details/Battlefield_Friends/BFFs+Season+3/S3E11+-+Close+Quarters.mp4), but I’m talking more about the devs’ seeming direction to make the game more accessible for the average player by limiting what the hardcore or the more seasoned players can do...
It’s like how EA turned Dead Space series from a Horror Shooter in Dead Space 1 & 2 into a Shooter with horror elements in Dead Space 3 because and I partially quote “Dead Space 3 needed to ship more figures to be successful and it needed at least 5 million sales”. Well you can take this 2 ways of course. 1 Yes, it needed more sales so forcing it into a broader genre is the way to go or 2 this has nothing to do with the fanbase and it just needed more to sell and it was on Respawn and the community that it didn’t do well.
If you look at the various interviews you’ll see that point 2 has no merit and it was basically forced down from the top to make it more accessible and what happened? It flopped. HARD.
Other example. Resident Evil Series. 1 through 4 were heralded as the best ones. Survival horror to the fullest. RE4(5 anyone? xD) deviated a little bit and went more of an adventure shooter direction but core was still horror.
Capcom saw that the playerbase was huge and they liked it but wanted more sales. So what did they do? Turned it into an adventure shooter with horror elements in the ridiculous Resident Evil 5... and 6... It however worked cause the fanbase for the series was large, as opposed to dead space, but fans and critics alike didn’t like the direction, whereas new players who knew of RE liked it because of the pew pew.
Then what happend? Resident 7 happened and the core and even the shooter fans liked it and it went on to be one of the best selling and rated Resident Evils!
TLDR: HORROR FTW! Also, don’t mess with the fundamentals!- OldTreeCreeper5 years agoHero+
@Koochi-Q lol I can get caught out, zooming in with a scope on a previously unnoticed detail of a flower or a rock.
What is SP you mention?
