Adding a helicopter legend to apex legends?
Call of duty had some pretty cool ideas introducing vehicles to their battle royale game. And since they are so much fun, why not introduce similar things to apex legends? The trident has already proven they can be fun and balanced at the same time.
I have no idea what kind of passive or tactical would come with this legend, hell, it could even be a replacement for lifeline’s care package.
How does it work?
It combines the movement and controls of crypto’s drone and combines it with the trident. It’s basically a flying trident.
As trade-off it has a limited amount of fuel, when it runs out of fuel, it drops to the ground, exploding when it hits something like a tree or the ground, dismounting occupants. This way it can’t be used to fly around forever to avoid fights.
When it runs out of fuel, it starts burning, clearly indicating to enemies that the helicopter is falling out of the sky.
It is extremely loud and not very fast, that way it can’t be used as a third party tool.
It takes 5 seconds to start up the engine, making that signature turbo jet/prop engine startup sound. This is so it can’t be used as an instant escape vehicle, if you want to escape in a pinch, pick Valkyrie.
The helicopter uses the same rules as the trident, meaning if players shoot it, the damage taken gets distributed among the occupants. Players also sit very much out in the open, enabling direct hits as well.
This ultimate would be very similar to Valkyrie’s ultimate, however so are many other abilities, just take a look at pathfinders grapple, Valkyrie’s jetpack and horizon’s gravity lift. Even though they share much in common, they are still different in their own way and all very popular.
What sets the helicopter apart from Valkyrie’s ultimate is that the helicopter is much easier to shoot, however it can fly much further than Valkyrie’s ultimate.
Fuel on this vehicle matches the legend’s ultimate charge, meaning that if it is parked aside for a while, it will gradually regenerate fuel over time. However the legend only has the ability to call down a new helicopter if it has full ultimate charge.
And that’s it. An aviation team transporter that enables the team to ring-run in style, taking favourable locations on high grounds and shooting at enemies bellow.
