When season 5 dropped i went into practice range to test out new changes on Mirage. I later found out that even the legends i didn't own were avalivable for playing. At the time i thought that it was a nice QoL, being able to test out legends before buying them and rolling them into a match. Now it doesn't work so i assume it was just a bug, but it would be nice if it was brought back for the reason i mentioned above.
Exactly this, same feeling. it's honestly something that all games with locked characters should do right from the very start.
Games like for instances League of Legends or Paladins both had a way to allow locked content to be tested without being forced to buy in the first place (one with a free champ rotation, the other with the practice range).
Apex Legends doesn't even try to consider it and there's no real reason for such a choice.
Honestly, I didn't spend that much time on Apex Legends but I'm still kinda baffled this wasn't done with Caustic and Mirage when the game came out back in early 2019.
Yeah stuff like this doesn't make much difference to veteran players due to the fact they can instantly purchase and play new legends.
I 100% agree this would be a brilliant QoL improvement though, especially since as a new player if you unlock a legend and you don't like that legend it feels like a bit of a bummer having to wait to try the next one.
