Andrew Wilson and the future of EA

I know that historically Respawn has had a lot more going on than just Titanfall/Apex, but it was just a year or two ago that EA canceled what would have been Respawn's latest Star Wars game. And what else do they have on the books just at the moment? Maybe Wilson has some big project in the works for them, but right now all I can see is that Respawn is the Apex studio and Apex is languishing. And the road map for Apex (Apex 2.0) hasn't been spoken of publicly by anyone in well over a year now. It was supposed to happen after Battlefield. And here we are after Battlefield with not even a mention of the possibility of any new Apex content apart from the assumption that there will be a season 31.

It's like they say in the middle of a horror movie: "It's quiet. TOO quiet."

I could see EA keeping Respawn going and the staff on the payroll because of the Star Wars games and the income that comes in from top IPs.  However, I can't see them keeping Apex going much longer.  The game has many technical issues that would take millions of dollars to fix, like the outdated servers and bugs, plus the cheater infestation that has gotten so bad the only solution now would be what Fortnite did, which is to hire lawyers and send every hacker that makes cheats a threat of a lawsuit.  That would also cost millions of dollars and for a game that only has a tenth of it's player base left I just can't see it happening with the new owners.  What I could see happening is maybe an Apex 2 that is an all new game with newer technology or maybe another Titanfall game that has a PvP emphasis like Apex with a campaign mode thrown in.  I just hope these characters live on in one form or another.
