@reconzero But really? Or is it just that FPS modes had to evolve?
See, I agree with you on that CoD and Overwatch are bad, Halo is fine, just not for everyone.
I'd simply say Control and Gun Run are two examples of modes that are better than BR. And I didn't say we should get rid of BR. But I cannot for the life of me imagine why...if you are loading up into a game with 57 other people against your team, that anyone could call this a serious competitive game when you only rank up if you beat, say, 45 of those other people. To me, that's just silly fun, but I would NEVER take that mode seriously.
And while I get some people could, I know of no competitive games in the world other than BR world that try to stoke serious play into this format. If we were really being serious, we would make a format not nearly open so much as to dumb luck. I'm not knocking dumb luck, I'm just saying if I'm playing in a dumb luck game, I'm having a good time and not caring about the results nearly as much.
So, I guess it is a matter of what I'm saying is fun is not necessarily serious hard core. And what made competitive gaming fun to me would be balance. And yet, lack of balance is what people somehow find exciting, and then rage over when they don't win because when they said 'balance' they really meant 'make me win'. :P That's not about you, but more like what I see is the totally skewed mentality of BR seriousface gamers.
You know, BR could be a serious mode, if you scored it like esports does. But we pleebs don't get that benefit, do we?
