aparently if you gift your friend they can get banned?

Hi so me and my best friend well call him "Cooper" I thought it would be a nice gesture to gift him a skin and some apex packs(Death dealer bonus bundle, + 5 apex packs) and he was very happy to receive this as a gift since we don't really buy stuff for each other and we played for the next couple days and he went to log in yesterday to find out he got banned?

Both confused I asked if he was able to appeal the ban? which he did and says he "violated terms of agreement / terms of sale" Which confused both of us? so we dug a bit further in to the TOS and we found gifting policy's which says "#7 Gifting, trading, transferring when expressly authorized by EA in writing, certain EA content may be gifted, traded, and/or transferred. Unless expressly authorized by EA in writing EA content purchased from EA may only be gifted, traded, and/or transferred to residents of the same country as the purchaser, gifts are complete transactions upon purchase of EA Content are between you and EA" but if you look it says nothing about being in the same country in-game?

"be Level 10 or higher in Apex Legends, have enough Apex Coins on your account for the gift, add the person as a friend in-game, be friends in-game for at least two weeks - platform friendships don’t count, have sent no more than five gifts in the past 24 hours, have an account in good standing.be Level 10 or higher in Apex Legends." These are the requirements to gift in apex which says nothing about having to be in the same country, or same residency which i found very upsetting "Cooper" has now lost his whole account and every thing on it (lvls, skins, Past BPs, legends) he has now spent over $100 on his new account and REBOUGHT EVERYTHING this make me ticked off. If your going to allow gifting in apex maybe in-game put a note stating "you may only gift to people that are from the same country not out side"

very disappointing from you EA

I'm just wanting to bring attention to this so hopefully EA can unban his account fingers crossed or is he SOL??

  • @DDT_Plays Wow, this is so ridiculous I don't even know what to say.
the thing is, I can not understand how your friend had the will to spend more money on the game after what happened.
if the cause of the ban truly was only for receiving a gift then your friend deserves an official apology and compensation.

  • Did your friend use a VPN to get around regional restrictions in some way? Did you?

Otherwise, according to this article (https://help.ea.com/en/help/apex-legends/apex-legends/apex-legends-gifting/), you shouldn't have been physically able to send the gift in the first place.

His account should have shown up as ineligible for gifting in the first place.

    "My friend shows as ineligible

Your friend may show as ineligible if:

    • you haven’t been in-game friends with them for at least two weeks - platform friendships don’t count,
    • your friend’s account isn’t in good standing,
    • there are regional requirements that prevent you from sending the gift to your friend."

If this didn't happen, you can probably reach out to support yourself and ask for your money back.
