Apex Downtime

I have done a little experiment out of boredom and found something interesting. There is a bit of downtime with apex when it comes to playing the game. So I checked a 12 hour stream of mine and did some math. Below will be time frames with time spent inside the game.

1: Total Playtime 12 hours

2: Sitting in Queue even with reque turned on: 33 minutes.

3: Picking the gun screen: 8 minutes

4: Looking at other team and my own team at the start of the match: 9 minutes

5: Kill Cam: 40 minutes as they are 5 seconds or so and typically I would die 8 times a match most games due to W key is the way. I would play roughly 5 matches an hour.

Kill Cams need a toggle option, please. They are taking up more time than any other thing in the game. It is reducing player interaction and play time in those game modes. While it may be a nice cool feature I also know its very taxing on the game and servers and honestly would take a  major load off if people were allowed to disable those it would help on your end the most as well as player engagement.

  • @E9ine_AC To measure downtime I think you have to also add some more stats by season. Total games, total kills. But also some other stuff, too.

This season (season 22, and I only play by myself with randoms in casual trios) I have

    491 games played
    296 kills
    292 deaths

So, obviously, there I'm having lots of very short games. Games fail because of teammates leaving and because teammates die and I leave due to the futility of carrying on. This often happens within a couple of minutes or even just seconds of the match starting. Meaning there is more downtime than playtime.

It makes for very repetitive queuing, etc.

This season you can queue from inside your match. But you still have to queue.

If you were playing in a premade team and were a lot more successful than I am, then you wouldn't have so much downtime.

To me this is why people are so frustrated with the matchmaking and also cheating and, for MnK users the aim-assist on controllers and how aim-assist encourages hot-drop and the futility of this in-game culture for MnK users. I think MnK and controllers should be separated completely.

I don't know about the replay cams. I think a lot of people leave before watching them.

My initial reaction to 18% of playtime spent dead and watching killcams is that you could alter your play style in a way that would result in less dying. That sounds like a wise crack, but I don't mean it to. I just mean maybe a little less aggression?
