Just finished reading the blog post and got to the part about the wildlife. This is the most "game changing" and controversial aspect of the map either for good or for worse. On the other hand, based from the vlog, they're not as bothersome as expected since you have to really approach Prowlers for them to attack and to destroy some spider eggs for it to hatch.
Other stuff they added
- The wildlife will drop gun attachments and ammo
- The wildlife can't get out of their nests.
- They're not infinitely spawning unlike the early builds of the map (leaks).
- Goliaths seem to be removed as well. If you guys didn't know (those who didn't want spoilers), there should have been Goliaths (that monster that BH killed in the Old Ways trailer) in the map where you need to damage it for around 200-300 damage to kill and it can 2 punch down you. Glad they decided to remove them.
- You can farm the wildlife to upgrade your evo shield but they only said that only a portion of the damage will go into your evo shield.
- @Cheese9Man This info makes me feel better about the expanded wildlife. I'll reserve final judgement for after the new season launches, and I get to see how it actually plays. I'm all for the Goliath being removed. As an LTM, it could be pretty fun, but I feel like they would have too much health for BR. I'm not worried about Prowlers/Spiders though, because if I die to one of those jokers, I deserve it, Lmao
For the evo shield damage, I hope no more than 1/4 of the damage counts toward shields. Not sure how I feel about the damage counting at all, but hopefully it's no more than that @Cro_Pittt another exciting teaser, but the animal thing seems to be going a bit too far into fortnite imo. I like the look of the map and can't wait to play both it and Ash. Ash seems a lot taller than I expected 😉

Here's my thing with all this:
Does the new legend look cool? Yes. The weapon? Yes. The map? Yes.
But, what does that do for the overall playability and stability of Apex? Nothing. New stuff is great in the game... So long as you can play it. And that's before we even include the issues with matchmaking, smurfs, cheaters, etc. All things, while not season specific, do end up impacting the enjoyment of it. I mean, look at how long the banner issues took to fix. Things like that.
Then, we have the issue of how they've been doing content post season launch. The BPs have been going downhill over the recent seasons, imo. They've been pushing Arena/Flash events like crazy, and the LTMs/Takeovers have been very limited in terms of duration and variety. All these things are supposed to keep you "engaged" with the season, over the three month period.
We all seem to fall in this pattern where we hype up a season launch, get all excited by the new map or legend or whatever, and then by like a month into it we're frustrated due to what I mentioned above. Its because the core issues with this game either never seem to improve or at worst they actually become worse.
Basically, what I'm trying to say here is I'm doing my best to be realistic about the game. Sure, I can be excited by the new stuff coming at the season launch. But, I don't want to get carried away or get my hopes up, wishing the next season will fix the issues I've had with Apex over the time I've been playing. I used to be that optimistic, that... naive. And I just don't want to do that to myself anymore. And I suggest others don't do that as well.
So, yeah. All in all, I say be excited about things if they excite you. That's great. Just don't get carried away. Don't think "this season will be the best season ever! And they'll finally fix everything I dislike about the game!" Because, more than likely, that won't ever happen. So, be happy, be excited, be hyped, just also try and be realistic. That's the best way not to set yourself up for disappointment.- CCbathwater4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Cheese9Man "The wildlife will drop gun attachments"
Noice, good thing they ain't nerfing Lifeline any further. Are the NPCs also limited by a "guaranteed upgrade" or can they upgrade you white-to-purple? Anyone have noticed who get the second BP skin ? I've seen Mirage but didn't noticed the second one.
If that's not Gibby, who's still missing a BP skin after 11 seasons, that's a shame.
@ZigoSid It’s Gibby.
@CCbathwater LL needs some love on the patch notes. Lol. I’m not sure if the attachments are guaranteed upgrades though. I can say that the ammo they drop is based on your gun just like when you kill someone in the Winter Express LTM. xD
@Cheese9Man
Nice, ty mate !I hope my man Fusey is left alone as he's (finally) in a really good place right now.
The only change I'd make is that he can open explosive holds with the knucklecluster. ATM the moment he's at a slight disadvantage as he's the only legend that cannot use the explosive hold exploit properly (which may or may not exist ... ahem). Either that or Respawn should fix the exploit.
