Apex Will Continue Having Exploiters, Unless Core Features Are Changed.

Note, I'm not focusing on software exploits in this discussion like outsourced code and/ or scripts, but mostly how players can and do exploit using core mechanics built into the game by using accounts to make a profit. Unless these features are removed and/ or changed, I strongly think Apex Legends will continue to have an increased number of exploiters.

There is absolutely no way a team of a couple thousand can do security for millions.

Monetization in Apex Legends is with skins (that means how EA profits from the title), but with all accounts able to acquire skins freely (being accounts cost nothing), it creates the availability that people take advantage of.

So the first issue this creates is people selling accounts with sought after skins (Basically people just make accounts, get skins, sell accounts, and start over). It's not that basic in the real world, but I'm sure people understand.

There are literally hundreds of thousands of accounts available for purchase as I write this. If Respawn made some type of change to just this single feature, boosting, cheating and/ or exploits would drop significantly (in my opinion) overnight.

Some might ask "Why would boosting, cheating and/ or exploits drop?" The majority (not all) people who exploit are just trying to boost accounts to gain these free packs so they can sell the account.

The drive is people selling accounts,  boosting, cheating and/ or exploits are mostly used just to do it quicker.

With no real way for the game to look for this type of behavior, it's no mystery why people don't get banned, then again what good does banning do, when accounts are totally free.

That's honestly another catch to this whole issue. Someone gets banned, it doesn't fix the underlying issue, just makes a new one, the person just creates a new account without a single loss.

Is all of this worth it, just for free skins? I honestly don't think so, but just my opinion. It might sound drastic to suggest something like this, but it's already a free 2 play title, why should the monitored assets be free too.

  • @Popa2caps I don't know if I'm getting it right but the change you want is that skins should not be free? because cheaters? First and foremost cheaters/exploiters makes more profit selling accounts that have reached a certain rank(diamond/master/pred) because skins are way too RNG for cheaters/exploiters to prioritize and try to make a profit with as time is still wasted if the account doesn't get a good skin. Don't get me wrong there have been bots way back then to get packs but now I barely see those anymore. So taking away free stuff will mostly just affect players that just wants free stuff and won't really harm the cheating scene much at all.
Another thing is that lots of accounts are getting banned not just by the system but by hideouts too. Just take a quick look around forums and you'll see threads of "not cheating but banned"
Free skins/stuff encourage players to play the game and invest time into it as they don't always have to spend money to get good skins. If they really want to deal with the cheating/boosting issue they need to invest better anti-cheat and add a bit more requirements in rank.

Free accounts cause problems for many games - I wouldn't mind seeing them force users to pair accounts with phone numbers (with some sort of cool down feature) and 2FA
