Basic questions that need to be asked

I have been playing Apex Legends since it came out and I love the game. I have had no issue with buying in-game content because I love playing this game and don't mind supporting a game that I play a lot. But I can't help but notice that the only thing that is pushed on players and supported is LGBTQ+ content. This game is rated "T for Teen" despite the fact that it is very highly sexualized with each of the legends, it promotes players being toxic towards each other with the in-game quips, emotes, holo sprays, etc. and is very violent overall. What is the point of all that content being pushed on younger players? There is no support for our veterans/active troops, our police officers, our fire fighters, or even simply supporting this great and wonderful country of ours! There is no support on Father's day or Mother's day, or even really any of the other holidays and yet, for the entire month of June, every time a person logs in to Apex they get to see all this LGBTQ+ content. It seems like for a company that is all about inclusiveness, you exclude a vast majority of people. I would think Respawn would be focused on fixing the problems with all the servers and in-game bugs that make the game unplayable rather than pushing their life style and life choices on others.

"Why is it so important to push political narratives and individual life styles and choices on players of a video game..."

There are certain groups of people who have historically been ill-treated (mildly stated) for reasons that simply have no basis in anything other than irrational bias and bigotry. Policemen, firemen, dads, moms, to name a few from your own list... historically have not fallen into this catergory. Suggesting that we treat others as we would wish to be treated, or trying to raise awareness of mistreatment, could only be called "political" by someone with a political agenda of their own. In my opinion.
  • This will probably be my last posting for a while.  I told everyone on the "Feedback" thread, I am taking off time from the game this summer.  I just finished out my battlepass and only have this event to wrap up.  I am very old school but I was never one who ran about picking on other people's differences.  Back in the 80's we called you a spazz, today they tell the kids it is wrong because they are ADHD or something to that effect.  I never had issues with people being gay or whatever the PC terminology is by today's standards.  But I also never accepted any awards based on my ethnic background either.  I am not handicapped by my ethnic heritage.  I don't expect everyone to understand, but it is my opinion, some people to need to feel entitled to get an award because they suffered at the hands of others.  I have my suspicion this is a public relations stunt by EA and Respawn to endear themselves to the community.  I imagine there are those people who actually take it serious within those companies, but they are still profiting from this financially.

As for the youth, I read comic books as a young man and people accused the comics of warping the minds of the children.  I watched horror movies too, and they also came under fire from various moral religions and parenting groups.  I know it is not the games such as Apex,  warping kids today. You were raised by parents and they set the ground work for your social choices. After that you get most of your influence from peers, such as teachers and friends.  We cannot blame media for all of societies woes.  I have played this game with some very young men with foul mouths and bad grammar, others seem to be okay with it and play more mature than adults..   As long as the youth understand, these games do not reflect our society in any way, they shouldn't have any issues living a ordinary life.  I find all the characters in this game are not heroes or someone to be admired.  Loba is a thief, Octane blew his own legs off with a grenade, Ash and Revenant are human brains inside metal robots who are basically sociopathic killers.  All the characters kill.  Not one of these fictional characters can be respected.  Personally, if I was part of the LGTB community, I would be somewhat upset they are cast in this light.

At the end of the day, it is only a comic book, just a movie, and very fun game.   Take care of each other in real life, killing each other in online games is a great way to release psychological stress.  Don't take it to heart.

    Obvious hang ups are obvious.

If people are so triggered by the badges, I guess they’re working.

Thats why I put them on my characters mainly. The triggers and Moans are worth it. Sometimes people have to think harder, even if they don’t like it,

  • @Reaper-of-Me Nowadays with how influential social media and movements are they are shooting them selves in the foot if they don’t make some badge, character, message etc. like that. Even if you are not in opposition to something like those, if you don’t vocally support it it’s assumed you are against it. So companies see this as an extremely easy CYOA move, they assume they have no choice, as has been seen many times all that has to happen is a few people complain on Twitter and people, companies, etc suffer.

The logic that the people who focus on these areas instead of bugs and such is correct, so sadly while it takes all of 5 seconds to make a badge and type up a message, bugs are more complicated. Perhaps if less emphasis was placed on that kind of stuff and more towards actually fixing the game things would get done quicker. I know there are people who are very vocal about representation but you would think they would care less about that and more about the game actually being playable, and once again, billion dollar company so need I say more. Different people have different priorities
  • @Reaper-of-Me They can support who they want and push whatever agenda they want to. You have the right to your own opinion, but you also have to respect whatever they choose to feature. There's plenty of things I don't agree with in today's world, I simply don't feed those things attention and move on. If I was against Respawns stance on Asians and the LGBTQ+ I'd just stop playing.
  • @DankToliet I agree, it's seriously a GREAT thing having the opportunity to voice your opinion through the badges, giving players the right to free speech should always remain.

Honestly surprised this hasn't been locked yet. People who are bothered enough to speak up about a badge just shows your "colors". Were you bothered enough about the overturning of Roe v Wade to speak up? Or the 100 billionth mass shooting? This game is an escape for everyone. Whether you like it or not. But whining about it makes y'all look worse.

  • I haven't been responding to any posts because I have my answers. This game is promoting political and social ideology on people and it is 100% one-sided. Funny, reading through the comments how people get so worked up just because not every one has the same out look or same mindset, let alone the same opinion. If any one even bothered to actually read my comments, they were pretty basic. If my comments offended, that wasn't my intention, but I can't control how you feel. That's on you. I just think there is already enough divisiveness in the world that I don't need to see more of it in a video game that I like to play. These Respawn devs only support certain groups and demographics of people. Clearly. How come "Free Speech" only applies to those who blindly follow one agenda? These game developers clearly have their priorities laid out for all to see. God bless and thank you all for the feedback. You've been helpful.
