People initially download games just to play, but stay (and donate) for interesting mechanics and personal development (for example, like the Titanfall community). Without interesting features and mechanics that players can explore and develop in them, the game is nothing interesting. Tapstrafe is one of the most interesting mechanics, and if it is removed, many top streamers and strong players who have spent a lot of time both on the game itself, as well as on improving their skills in it, will simply lose interest. After all, it's not interesting to just go and shoot, it's interesting when you have a whole arsenal of game features that you have trained and can use them in battle.
