So apparently it's possible to change legend mid-match in the Gun Run gamemode by clicking on your legend in the top left when you die.
It's great but kind of obscure, am I the only one that missed this?

My bud mentioned about using L2 (on controller, obviously - maybe right mouse button?) to open a menu to change legends after dying. The respawn system works so quickly in this mode (no complaints about that) that I was unable to work it out exactly.
It might help some people out to know that in these LTM modes that allow you to swap legends, you can do so right before the end of the match to add to a "games played as..." challenge.
