As for Hammond, we all know that the Labs itself is just a single floor building so there's nothing much there other than spamming skills and grenades.Loadouts are great since it forces you out of your comfort zone in some of the weapons. Alternator-Eva-8 was my go-to loadout today.Things to improveLET US SPECTATE. When you're dead, you have this like 8 second respawn time before you go back to the action. In this 8 seconds, you're just staring at this screen where you pick your spawn point. I wish I could watch my teammates while I wait. Quitters. We've seen this from a mile away. 2 out of my 5 games a few players from the enemy team has left before the match ended. One game was just 90-80 lead. Pretty sure you can still recover from that. @Cheese9Man This mode is exactly what I needed! That session last night, was the most fun I have had on Apex in a long time. Control is definitely a huge hit, for me. Played 6 matches with my two buddies, once my update finally finished, and won all 6. Had a couple where we absolutely destroyed the enemy team. Had a couple pretty huge comebacks, where we had gotten pushed all the way back to our base, but came back and ended up winning. Domination remains my favorite game mode for FPS, that's for sure! Had one match that we were down by about 500, but ended up winning by 12.Gameplay:I had an absolute blast!! I didn't pay attention to the loadout system, to see how it resets (timer, or what), but I found a loadout that worked well for me, every match. I had an L-Star in the first one, but then that loadout was gone for the rest of the matches we played.You were right about Octane. Having jump pads at the base is crucial! I actually ran Bloodhound for most of the matches last night, and that worked out really well for us.Legend abilities are game changing in Control. They can be powerful in BR, obviously, but man, the couple matches where the enemy had us down pretty bad, and pushed back to our base, we completely flipped it around with our abilities, and got them pushed back into THEIR spawn, and won, Haha!This mode is exactly the chaos that I was looking for. For me, it's the best thing they've done for Apex since launch. I could definitely do without the Tridents, but it doesn't really effect me, as I don't use them. The action was crazy though, and that's what I was looking for! I think I finally can get my two buddies back to playing a decent amount of Apex, at least while the LTM is active. I'm definitely hopeful that it becomes permanent!All in all, Control is probably my favorite part of Apex, as of now. I have always loved domination-style game modes, and this is perfect for me and my two buddies. It's our bread and butter. I'm just upset that I couldn't remote update from work yesterday, so I only got to play a small batch of matches. I'll definitely be playing a lot more today. I know there's probably a lot of people that prefer BR and wont like it, but this mode is a godsend for me!Also, the most exciting part of my gaming session last night. So I finally finished the update, and loaded in to Apex. Got to the lobby and sent invites to my mates. They joined up, and right before I pressed Y, I noticed the Octane thematic packs that I had available. So I clicked to open them, and upon opening the very first one, well.... First impressions

Amazing mode. This is the casual mode I've been looking for for the longest time. Shoot, die, and repeat.
Had a blast mostly playing as Wattson in Barometer while playing as Gibby or Caustic in Hammond Labs.
Barometer is objectively the better map when it comes to the fun factor and it has multiple levels to fight in especially the B objective. As for Hammond, we all know that the Labs itself is just a single floor building so there's nothing much there other than spamming skills and grenades.

@Cheese9ManWhile I think the mode is a cool addition— I (predictably) hate how aggressive the SBMM is.

I played about 14 games and won 1. Literally ABSOLUTELY every player in my lobby is Pred or Master but it is oddly screwing towards pred.

My average to below average friends have all won a handful of games. It just re-highlights how crappy it feels to have non-ranked, non-reward modes play like a tournament.

This isn't a Control specific improvement, but it is an issue that is exacerbated by the mode:

We need Friendly vs Enemy colors for abilities and items

There has alway been an issue of things like not knowing if the Caustic gas you see is your teammates, or an enemies, even in BR and Arena. But, when you have a mode where you can have up to 3 of the same legend on a team (and up to 6 overall), it is crucial to know whose gas is whose, whose fuse ult is whose, whose thermite, etc. Being surrounded by things that could damage you and not knowing which one of them is "safe", is a big problem. Especially in a 9v9 team mode with up to 18 people in a single building or general area.

Yeah, in terms of Quitters, I see your point. I was watching Rag Tagg's stream and one his Control games was like 6v9. It was a one sided slaughter.

They need to have backfill for this mode (like Overwatch does) or they need to have like a Mercy Timer that triggers when you lose too many people or something. No one should have to sit through these long matches with missing teammates. This experience is bad enough in BR and Arena, it looks even worse in Control (in some regards).

I take it this is why Control is an LTM and not a permanent launch like Arena was. They probably want to take in data and feedback and all that, before they even consider making this a permanent mode. Which is probably a good idea.

Seems to me that if this mode returns. it should have some kind of back fill option, with some kind of small reward for choosing it. The problem would be making the carrot feel worth it, without it being exploitable.

I played the mode for about an hour or so this morning and found it highly enjoyable. My buddy faced one unbalanced lobby earlier, a three stack of high skill players just spawn camped his team the entire time.

I had okay fun. Had to figure everything out at first. Didn't even have much of an issue with people leaving. It was more of an issue that the game only loaded in 7 players on my squad or the opposing squad - twice.
But yeah, finally they took a step in the right direction. Now it just need badges and trackers, so the kill-counter-hot-drop griefers have something "to play for".

@Cheese9Man I lost track of time playing it. That is how much fun I was having. This mode should replace arenas. I have a use for Gasman again!

The maps are perfect size. Unlike arenas height isn't be all end all in this. I love that there are jump towers and tridents at your homebase. I was gassy tridenting lot.

Checkpoints don't take long to takeover. This means the game flow stays high paced.

Leveling your stuff doesn't seem hard. And even if you don't you can pick up dead player stuff.

It is brilliant.
