I like Arenas. So does my kid. We probably play more than 50% or more of our time there. I started with Season 7, but barely touched the game till Arenas.

It's a better "basic training" then the Firing Range, and helps you get better at the game combat basics.

If anything, I think non-Ranked Arenas should be the only mode you can play until like level 50, just so people learn some basic fighting before trying to hot drop Fragment all the time.

One thing I have seen from this current LTM though, is that Arenas might be more interesting and less snowballing then now if they made a a 3 v 3 v 3 and updated the maps properly. Right now, who ultimately wins is usually determined by who can rush materials for the later rounds.

@Kyldenar How’s the matchmaking going for you and your kid? That’s the main problem that people have with the mode.

  We only do unranked, so less of an issue.
  What's more annoying than being put against "better" players (where unlike in BR we still have a fighting chance cause no RNG gear drops) is when we don't get our 3rd, and now the game penalizes us for dropping even after round 1 rather than letting us just drop and give them their win.
  Instead, we're forced to get teabagged 3v2 because they are so proud to beat an outnumbered kid and his old man.
  When it's not overflow and we see this, we've learned to just buy thermite grenades and drop them at our feet first thing. Deny them free kills annoys them more. On overflow we can just go swim in the lava.
