Apex Banned 73000 players ... really?

Alright, I don’t want to discuss this at length, I just have one question. If Respawn, or EA, it doesn’t really matter technically really banned 73 thousand players, then why didn’t the player count drop by roughly that amount according to the Steam charts? And if the same people just came back with new accounts, then excuse me, but doesn’t that make it pointless anyway?  I’m curious to see the response from those responsible. PS: If 70k bans had targeted a significant portion of the consistent daily player base, we would expect at least some visible disruption in the otherwise very stable daily pattern. Since the pattern remains almost perfectly intact, it strongly suggests that the bans did not affect the core player population.

  • As one who has been playing a lot lately in the unranked lobby, I can testify that there appear to be more cheaters than ever. They are all new accounts, so obviously just recreating accounts.

  • Theoretically, hardware bans (HWID bans) do exist, so why aren’t those being enforced more consistently? That would be one of the few actually effective ways to deal with repeat offenders. Right now it feels like banning accounts alone just isn’t enough. Not only do we have to deal with questionable matchmaking, but also with players who clearly return on fresh accounts. I literally just came out of a match where low-level accounts wiped our entire squad in seconds. I barely dealt 100 damage, while they shredded everyone, even though we had the high ground. At this point, it’s hard not to feel like the system isn’t addressing the real problem.

Playing on ap-southeast-2 server, in gold ranked lobbies, it's still full of cheaters! Either no data/ no badge accounts or low level accounts, with laser beam aim and game awareness/ using wall hacks shredding lobbies consistently every match at least 1 squad with sus players. It's as if the ban hasn't had any affect at all.

  • They don't share console player numbers, so some could be console. Also, could be accounts that weren't in use all the time. With people having all these accounts, someone could have 5 and get 2 banned and keep on cheating on the others.

  • NA west was a nightmare tonight, blatent wallhacks, people just waiting for me to come around the most random corners and already 3 people aiming and shooting me. Mirage was useless, they say through every decoy tonight like it wasn't even there. And people just sitting on the edge of the maps beaming non stop while octanes run around hip firing with perfect aim while strafing perfectly. Who cares how many got banned, I want to know how many respawn actually keeps out

  • I wonder why anyone believes that crap anyway, Respawn has been caught so many times not being truthful

They can't. If they do hardware bans, they will lose tons of players they need to keep stock values high. EA doesn't care if people are cheating or not as long as they're playing - that's the bottom line.
