Drawing the line on Teaming

Hey guys, I’m trying to wrap my head around the concept of teaming being an unethical thing to do in a video game. In most games I just simply play my Apex with pubs and sometimes I win, sometimes I lose horribly fast.

However once in a very blue moon, I come across either a lone player or a team that we have each other in our ironsights, but then one starts teabagging, and then I or someone on my team teabags, and then suddenly become friendlies. And then we just journey across the map, only to get clobbered by a thirsty team.

Another example is where say this one guy and I are the only ones left and we battle it out. I beat him, but then instead of finishing him off I drop a phoenix kit for him to revive. And while he’s self-reviving I throw down my weapons and armor as a gesture of extending an olive branch. The guy accepts it, and we just kinda teabag around the map til the ring gets 6 ft in circumference and then we punch each other to victory (I lost that one lol)

If the rules of Apex dictates that we have to battle royale it out that’s fine, I’ll do that than getting in trouble (and even those two examples above, I can only attest to the second one). However, is this really such a bad thing that we can get bad for trying to “make friends” in our short moments in a match?

  • @NitefireOP If you team and kill others that is against the rules. If you just run around the map and then box that isnt.
  • @NitefireOP I've only really come across that second example in fortnite a couple of times. A couple of other times in Apex it's been where its me left against a full team. They are obviously going to win so they throw down their guns, then so do I and I try to hit each of them before I go down, which I did. Bit of fun. But you'll get shot here in Apex hq for teaming 😃

Another example is when season 5 was wrapping up and the Mirage Voyage was gonna be gone forever, people jumped onto that ship to “celebrate” and didn’t kill each other. I mean if someone really wanted to police that, that’s like a multi-team teaming....not maliciously but a thirsty cop can consider it that way.

  • @NitefireOPIt is, you know what's awesome though? EA has been focusing on unsporting behavior this season. The start of the season they suspended over 400 accounts who were abusing the queue timer to get into low rank lobbies. These players can not play all of Season 7 due to the unsporting behavior.

From there they just did a ban wave of teamers, many who were in the high rank lobbies.

A few seasons ago I ran into a really bad group in duos it was 6 people working together. I DM'd one asking them to knock it off because it ruins the gaming experience for honest players. The person was really rude about it. I reported it to Microsoft and followed up the report with an email to Microsoft and a clip of it. His account did get suspended, for about a week. He went from playing apex daily to not playing any only multiplier games. I have had in game friends get suspend for voice chat and other unsporting behavior as well.

So the report features do work and they do get in trouble for it. The big issue is that most of the time you never know if or when action has been taken.

If you suspect cheating or unsporting behavior email a clip of it to the TOS department. https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/report-players-for-cheating-abuse-and-harassment/

They won't tell you if they have taken action but they will investigate it.
