EA layoffs

https://variety.com/2025/gaming/news/electronic-arts-cancels-titanfall-layoffs-300-employees-1236381665/

As always the EA solution to the problem isn't to fix the problem, it's to cut the costs. Maybe I'm reading this wrong - feel free to weigh in if so - but it really looks as if the cheapest company in gaming is getting even cheaper. They're cutting back at Respawn and axing a new Titanfall game and a new Star Wars game in the process. Because when your six year old work horse starts showing his age, you don't look to replace him with a younger, stronger horse. You just keep beating him into the ground and somehow fantasizing that a broken game will magically recapture all its past glory. Without any significant investment in the game or the people who maintain it. Not sure who does the math at EA but someone should check their numbers. They don't add up. The only way any of this makes any sense is if the new trimmed down Respawn is being put on Apex 2.0 exclusively. And with a much faster timeline than the previously suggested two years. But somehow I don't think that's what they're thinking. I'm not sure they're thinking at all, at least not beyond the next quarterly report. If I was Patrick Wilson I'd be cashing out my stock right now.
