getting 0x8000002 after mid season patch
i am getting the above mentioned error when launching the game. only happens since installing the mid season patch a couple hours ago, played fine the night before.
i have tried every troubleshooting method available, nothing works. since the error does not specify which files (or file path) are being falsely flagged, i have no idea where to look or what to do. theres no logs.
i have done everything in my power but i would still like to play since i spent money on the game and this is clearly a patch/update related issue.
can we get an EA answer to this? is respawn aware of the issue? will there be a fix?
TY
------------- FIXED ------------ (for me, for now)
this has been the weirdest issue. i currently do not have DAEMON TOOLS LITE installed but i found some DAEMON TOOLS leftovers on my hard drive due to a possibly unclean uninstall years ago. shoutout to ACEY!!! i manually scrubbed my drive with revo uninstaller and removed every trace of DAEMON TOOLS i could find. which there were a lot of. although the app was uninstalled and not listed anywhere, almost every entry in the registry and install folders still existed. after cleaning up, i then reinstalled apex for a second time and the game started normally.
while downloading apex legends, i wanted to play some Delta Force. weirdly enough, Delta Force's anti cheat also flagged some files on my computer and, also, wouldn't boot up the game. since now two different anti cheat softwares detect some sussy files on my pc (without specifying where or what), this kinda had to be non Apex related. i went into windows services to check if Delta Forces anti cheat was even running, and it wasn't. i had to manually set the start up procedure of Delta Force's anti cheat to automatic instead of manual. now, Delta Force would launch. it had never done this before.
when i launched Apex for the first time after reinstall, EAC and ACE conflicted. i had to manually disable ACE (DFs anti cheat) for EAC to start. EAC is set to "manual" in windows services and it seems to be fine this way. for ACE to work, i had to set it to automatic. i am wondering if thats the procedure i have to go through now if i wanna switch between those two games. i also dont understand how an apex patch can cause two anti cheat systems to stop working properly.TLDR: getting the game working again took me 6hrs in total. ALL OF MY ISSUES WITH BOTH ANTI CHEAT SYSTEMS STARTED WITH DOWNLOADING TODAYS MID SEASON PATCH. in my case, the issue was either leftovers from DAEMON TOOLS LITE or two different anti cheat softwares (EAC and ACE) colliding. i suspect that along with the mid season patch there was also an EAC update with an updated list of software thats not allowed to be ran with Apex. with things like rewasd or AHK, that seems logical. since EAC does not publish what software is blacklisted in a new update, its up to the user to find out which one of the programs is the culprit when the anti cheat compains. i cannot confirm 100% that it was DAEMON TOOLS LITE but for me the fix was either a) removing every trace of DAEMON TOOLS, b) manually disabling other anti cheat software in windows services or c) uninstalling/installing the game. since this was an anti cheat issue i dont think the reinstall helped, it was propably DAEMON.
good luck to everyone, i would have never figured this out without ACEYs tip, at least some IT knowledge and 6hrs to spare.
