Goodbye Apex Mobile
https://twitter.com/Respawn/status/1620527847063572481 Never played it but some features were really good and i hoped they would implement them in the main game. "Things beyond us" a.k.a income was...
@hayhor It's at your discretion but it's still a disrespectful thing to do. I invested some money in the game and now you don't even give me the chance to actually get something from it?
Other games refunded all the bought items when they shut down their servers.
Well just to note.
It's not like you're actually investing in the game, you're buying cosmetics, not shares.
Companies are built to make money, they're not a bank.
It's not exactly like they're just going to refund all the profit they made, it would be illogical to make games at that point.
The game is free, the main source of income would be microtransactions... apart from losing all their profits it would literally mean the game they developed ended up costing them money to make.
Keeping up the game would mean paying for server costs too and possibly some licensing with the platforms and other things.
I do agree that games shouldn't be taken away, though that pretty much only applies to games that support single-player... it's quite normal for online games to lose support eventually.
Some projects can stay up for longer, but if it's been projected that it's not doing so great, it's better to get rid of the project before it becomes too much of an issue.
Same thing happened with Diablo. They announced they have a great new $$ scam, not a game that players asked for. Sure you don’t have to buy the cosmetics, but I bet there is some deep psychology that prevents a certain type of person from doing so. I put in at least $10 for the first battlepass I bought and had to buy another because I wasn’t able to finish a season somewhere in there. $20 isn’t much but everyone’s always seems to have the new cosmetics running around.
