It's a piece of code created by someone on a PC that is triggered when a button is pressed.
For example, you fire on PC via the left mouse button. If you use single-shot weapons or weapons that can be switched to single shot the you have to repeatedly click.
You could set up a macro on your keyboard so that - say - when you when hit 'B' the keyboard sends a 'left mouse button pressed' event ten times much faster than you can click the mouse.
If you get downed by a Hemlock in auto-fire mode, then that player is using a macro.
This is just one example.

Basically automated input. You press the key one time and your Hemlock will turn full-auto lol. It's easily noticeable with it's distinct firing pattern sound.
I have threatened my teammates in the past for using macros, saying 'Better not use it this game or I will record and send it to a dev' 😃

As suggested above, avoid using it.
Doesn't matter the purpose, you're still breaching ToS by using a macro and they'll get you on that technicality lol. x.x
