After four years you will barely recognize the game. Legend balance is non-existent. The game is filled with crutch mechanics like banner crafting and late-game loot bin resets. We used to have the wingman meta. Then the scan meta. Then the smoke meta. Now we have all of those plus the Ash meta. There is a pointless upgrade system to tacticals and ultimates. Recon legends have their enemies show up highlighted in red. I'm sure there's a point to that, but as a recon main I'm still not sure what it is except maybe as a way to invalidate Bangalore and Caustic. Oh, and if the bin reset doesn't completely invalidate the entire process of looting then the weapon arsenals certainly do. Just drop wherever your favorite guns are and start shooting. I don't know why they don't just kill battle royale entirely and switch over to team deathmatch. Oh, and if you're going to play on PC then brace yourself for the cheatiest game in gaming history.
On the plus side, skill-based matchmaking was overhauled this season and, even with the shrinking population, is tighter than it has ever been. By a huge margin. The game is still filled with smurfs, but the matchmaking is in a good place even so. At least for me.
