I started in S10 (or maybe the last few days of S9, can't remeber). I didn't know * and while I am still quite bad I've gone from a K/D of 0.29 to 0.75 now.
I'd say people are better now in general. And yes, while some people def. cheat. Some are also quite good. Be it MnK or Controller.
Positioning, map knowledge, small tricks because they know the legends, movement etc. It adds up.
I do agree that I can feel the aim assist kick in at times, but not always. It is however way easier to do long fights with MnK. + You have tap strafing and loot-moving.
TL:DR: There is aim assist, but other things play in as well...
I started playing in season 7/8 and didn’t get up to a 1 kd until season 13. I can actually perfectly explain this situation and it has nothing to do with aim assist. The only reason I was able to maintain a 1kd was becase I was at the top of my bucket as it’s referred to in the blog post about mm. Say I was a 3, I was being grouped with 1s and 2s, but now with the new matchmaking, I am a 3.2 being paired much more accurately with 2.9s and 3.5s. This has nothing to do with aim assist, and everything to do with the new matchmaking, it’s just more fair now. You’re facing players with more even skill. It can be jarring to some players that were at the top of their grouping now being matched with more of their skill level, but this is only a matchmaking thing, not aim assist.

@BigMacAttack8u As I was saying, this has been going on since season 11. So it's not the new matchmaking.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@YaBoyMirage In the old system, it was even more jarring, say you were a 3, improved and then transferred over to a 4 at season start, that would mean you would be pitted against 5s and 6s. I had this in season 14.

@BigMacAttack8u And there it is, yet another player just blindly dismissing aim assist on controller as if it is
not an issue whatsoever.
Exactly why nothing gets done.
Exactly why so many pro's are turning to Controller who were Mnk.
I tend to listen to the guys who do this for a living and win major tournaments, and what they have to say about it.
It just confirms what I see match after match.
- BigMacAttack8u3 years agoSeasoned Ace@Wargasmatron I’m dismissing it becase it’s not an issue, strike packs and steam configs are, both of these can be used in controllers in some instances and a fairly undetectable (strike packs) Also I never trust the “pros” on anything just like I would my just trust a company and hit continue without reading the privacy policy. They will always be pushing their own agenda no matter if it’s objectively good or bad. I believe the reason they switch to controller is that they get easier kills by farming the less skilled controller players, otherwise wouldn’t they get beaten by aim assist all the time? The steamers and pros are not who you think they are. Put your trust in your own research.

Nuh-uh!
I'm not a pro while using AA so obviously it's not an issue!
It does nothing at all, ever!
If anything it makes me worse at the game!
I use it to give myself more of a challenge or else nobody else could hope to defeat the infinity/0 KD ratio I'd have!
(I've been outspoken against AA since season like 3 or 4 or so. It's fine if console wants it I guess, but don't mix inputs... I loved Apex, but I quit after I tried abusing AA for a few matches. Couldn't unsee that...)
