I had a super laggy server the other night, and the interesting thing I noticed was the two console players on the one team that beat my team were the only ones with damage. Which is what I've been saying for years, aim assist can push there lag and visual clutter. It's a built in advantage. Aim assist is locking onto hit boxes, not character models.
It's never going to get better until they:
Increase the server tick from 20 to anything higher. 20 ticks is suitable for a turned based game or something, not a shooter.
Lag compensation is far too generous. EA cares about accessibility over anything else, which I can understand up to a point. However, if you have 150+ ping, you should be the one having a bad time, not me with 30-60 ping.
Match making parameters are maybe leaning too far in favor of quick queue times over quality and fairness of matches. It's a tough thing to balance, but the community has been pretty vocal on what they want. Slightly longer queue times in favor of better matches.
Like most others on here, it's my favorite game at the moment, but does it feel fair? HELL NO. Every time I see someone being super consistent, I think they have to be cheating. I can't even slide reliably in this game, I get dead slides ALL THE TIME. I can slide every 5 seconds, and I'll still get them. There's some broken code in this game regarding the physics that could use some love, but yet another touchy subject that some of the community loses it over. Super glides shouldn't be in the game, it's not intended, simply code that needs to get cleaned up.
I don't fully understand the issue with 20 tick servers, but I hope they can upgrade them eventually to be up with industry standards for fps games.

@WhoopFighterYeah, I have the exact same issues as you, I first noticed them in season 20. It's interesting you mention there is some kind of lag compensation to benefit those with higher ping. Also, the movement does feel a little off as does the ways to land a shot.
I don't fully understand the issue with 20 tick servers, but I hope they can upgrade them eventually to be up with industry standards for fps games. All online shooters have some sort of lag compensation, it's just that Respawn's philosophy was to try and make it "fair". Meaning, high ping players would have a "slight" advantage in some scenarios, while low ping in others.
Low ping players will have a peeker's advantage, you'll be able to see the enemy before they can see you, in most cases. High ping players will be able to damage you after you have taken cover. Your character model is still there, even though you turned around already and headed for cover.
So it's not that one has a clear advantage over the other, unless you are a very skilled player, having lower ping will be beneficial. It's more of a matter that it can make the game feel a lot less fair. Especially high ping players, that damage you before the game updates, so you stay in the fight, and then they damage you more, and all of a sudden you're downed. The game updated everything so closely together, you weren't able to read the situation accurately.
The higher a players ping, the more likely their connection isn't the most stable either. It's probably fluctuating a lot more than a lower latency player, which the server is going to have a harder time adjusting, especially when the tick rate 20hz. Which is an update every 50 ms, and that's abysmal for a shooter. Average reaction time for people is about 200-300ms, so if a packet or two gets lost, you are talking about 100ms of lost time to react. Pro athletes and gamers can have reaction times low as 150, but that's definitely not the average, nor is it something you can really improve on.

Thought I'd try out the new season.
Just had a game. A guy came through a door and didn't know I was there. Emptied an entire clip into him before he even realized what was happening.
His partner comes running in and 1 shots me, death cap says I got 13.....from an entire clip you could see and hear hit him.
Oh joy.
I come back to see if there's been any improvements, lol. What was I thinking.

I got one good ranked match a couple nights ago where I got a kill, but that was rare.
