@RockDokRock I've been a day one player. I was happy they came out with ranked, got to diamond 3 in the second season (but also got busted for exploiting the dashboard glitch, got sent back to plat 4 before getting the soft reset). After that I didn't touch ranked for 6 seasons before starting up again in the second half of season 8. Got Diamond and have been Diamond ever since.
To me ranked is easier, your random teammates have a better understanding of the game and aren't going to break off and go do their own thing. And fighting in rank is a lot better, you can easily predict your opponents movement then some random level 10 in pubs who either stands still or moves in one direction.
Pubs, I'll play with my buddy since he doesn't play ranked, but if I'm solo q which I do quite often anymore, I'm playing ranked, whether its BR or Arena.
