Thoughts on improving Apex Legends Without changing its core identity.

Hi Respawn team,

I've been playing Apex Legends for a long time, on and off, and i recently came back to the game after break. What surprised me the most is that the core gameplay still feels amazing : movement, gunplay, pacing - this is still one of the most unique FPS experiences out there.

That said, I wanted to share some constructive feedback from the perspective of a player who mainly plays solo and values mechanical skill, movement and long-term enjoyment.

1- Solo modes (Ranked & Casual)

I truly believe a solo mode (ranked and/or casual) would benefit Apex a lot. Many players queue alone and want to improve without being dependent on random teammates. A solo environment would reduce frustration, encourage personal responsability, and create a strong space to practice mechanics and decision-making.

2- Aim Assist balance

Aim assist is necessary and should stay, but a slight adjustment could improve fairness, especially at highter skill levels. Rewarding real tracking and positioning a bit more would help balance controller vs KBM without removing accessibility.

3- New maps focused on movement (medium-sized)

Maps that are not too large, with good verticality and flow, really highlight what makes Apex special. Areas where movement is encouraged and rewarded make the game more fun aand expressive. Compact, movement-friendly maps would greatly improve replayability.

4- Fun, replayable game modes

Permanent or rotating fun modes that focus on movement, aim, or fast-paced combat would help players enjoy Apex without pressure. Not just short-term events, but modes people can come back to regulary.

5- Store & cosmetic presentation

Apex has beautiful skins and iconic heirlooms, but the store could feel more exciting and curated. A better presentation would increase player attachment and willingness to support the game.

6- Audio consistency

Sound is one of the most important elements in a fast-placed FPS. Improving audio clarity and consistency (especially footsteps) would significantly enhance competitive integrity and player trust.

Overall, Apex's gameplay foundation is already excellent. These changes wouldn't reinvent the game - they would strengthen what already makes it unique and enjoyable.

Thank you for continuing to support Apex Legends, and for creating a game that still offers such a strong sense of movement and expression.

- A passionate Apex player.

  • Well thought out. I agree with most of it.

A solo mode could be a huge boon to the game. But not the one we got at the beginning, and also not the one we got a few seasons ago. I'm not sure exactly what is the formula for a "good" solo mode, but I haven't seen it yet. And I'd like to. For all the reasons you mentioned.

I'm not sure what to say about aim assist at this point. Except what I always say, which is NO MORE CROSSPLAY. A lot of people don't see a connection between the two, but the way I see it they can't ever solve the PC controller vs. PC kbm problem until they've removed console controller from the equation. There are a million other compelling reasons to separate the lobbies, but this one is at the top of the list. Then they can tinker with aa all they want, on any platform including mine. Just don't tinker with it while I still have to face off against PC players, no matter which input they use.

Medium-sized maps terrify me. PUBG went down this road just before I left. It wasn't why I left, but it sure didn't make me want to stay either. No matter. If there are people who want it and it doesn't replace pubs then sure, let's give it a go. Although I have to say for the record: it's another step in the de-battle-royale-ification of this game and another step toward turning it into just another arena shooter. Imo. After all, deathmatch maps are pretty small. And so are Wildcard maps if you take into account the huge amount of added mobility options they have.

More modes is what this game has needed since forever. I hoped Wildcard would be the right idea, or at least change itself up enough from time to time to be fun AND replayable. But it's turned into nothing more than motion-based insanity. Which is great if you can afford to snort a few lines before every match, but it's definitely not for me anymore. Keep your speed boost, your wall running, your hoverboards or whatever the hell those were. Not fun. Imo.

No opinion on the store whatsoever so I'll leave this judgment to people who use it. Although It's worth saying that the reasons I have for not using it have nothing to do with presentation.

The audio problem is much talked about and I feel bad for anyone who has experienced these issues, but I have to unsympathetically report that I've never had any audio problems, footsteps or otherwise, that I can recall.

Overall: Good feedback. My personal hot button issues revolve around matchmaking quality, smurfing, and cheating, but I'm honestly so sick of thinking about them and talking about them and feeling like nothing ever changes (even though it actually does change, often for the better) that I'm glad to see someone else focus on some other issues. All of which are worthy of serious attention on the part of the dev. Kudos.

I think you are right on many points, just like a lot of other players. In my opinion, the best approach would be to take into account feedback from different people and identify the ideas that come up the most. This would allow the game to improve significantly. Apex Legends already has a very strong foundation; it only needs a few issues to be addressed and some fresh content added, without changing the core gameplay.

    Thank you for your feedback.
