Is pathfinder gonna get a passive sometime soon?

I remember reading some post from Respawn which confirmed that they were gonna work on a pathfinder passive update, as he literally has none atm (or well not one that actually does something). but this has been like a year ago now and theres still no news on coming changes for pathfinder even for season 11.

Is this just a forgotten case or is there any info about a future change? We're not expecting much or it to be something overpowered, but having a passive at all would be nice.

  • @stebbeh93 I feel like his passive is ok where it's at. Not only does scanning a beacon show the next circle, it also fully recharges your ult, and also reduces your ult cooldown by 10 seconds, for each beacon scanned. Yes, other recon legends can now scan beacons as well, but they don't get the ult recharge or cooldown reduction. That's a pretty solid passive, in my opinion.

Did you have anything in mind, yourself? I main Pathy, but I've never felt like he really lacks anything, aside from the pre-nerf grapple cooldown, Lmao
  • @stebbeh93 Well as mentioned above pathfinder does indeed have a passive. He can throw a zipline scan a beacon and instantly have a repop of his zipline.
  • I want a zipline cooldown as passive, said no one ever. Let me scan a beacon to make my passive work, hahaha genius 🤡. Basically non-existent/useless

@BaldWraithSimp I utilize the beacon/ult charge at least once in most matches. Definitely not "non-existent/useless" for me. To each, their own, though

@dSKyNafinchin In pubs, I never even think of beacon. In ranked, only for ring knowledge. I have never felt any lack of zipline availability, I have it up when I want to use it.

@BaldWraithSimpIt definitely recharges fairly quick. I usually will pop a zipline to get to the beacon that I am about to scan, so that I'll have my ult ready again right away. I probably pop at least 10 zips per match though, because I'm a loot goblin, and like to cover a lot of ground/loot (mainly for attachments, which I never can seem to find)

I got stuck in Plat IV a couple seasons in a row a while back, because my squad isn't on Apex much anymore and I don't have the patience to grind it out solo. After that, I just stick to pubs. I'll play ranked, but wont go out of my way for it. If the dive trails were permanent though, that would be a different story

@BaldWraithSimp I mean it depends on strategy. In a ranked setting with ring coming, i can throw a zipline. Scan for next circle zip down my line and throw another for quicker travel across the map. While some may find that useless myself i find it very good depending on how you use it and when to apply it. Even works for me in pubs. I see it no diff as a wattson grabbing a ult excel and instantly gaining ult again. All about strategy i suppose with usefulness.
  • I use it also every now and then but only to troll a bit cos it feels close to useless, especially in pubs

as someone who gets a lot of kills every game and tends to rush fights (which imo path should be played for, but to each their own ofcourse) I don't even wanna waste the way too long scan which another champion can just do with their drone which is actually also instant rather than taking 3 seconds which forces you to stand still only to get a free kraber shot in the head.

While it might be somewhat usable for ranked, other champions have this option now too + also their own old passive, so basically he doesn't really have a passive.

Look at bloodhound for example, can track, can ping tracks for team which gives a lot of information, those are actually useful in a fight, wraith passive tells you when you're being aimed at, gibby has an arm shield which stops 50 dmg.

Like i said, compared to other champions his passive basically does nothing and has no contribution to actual fights like other legends.

I have over 15k kills on path and i gotta say i maybe scan that thing once every 100 games just to get my ult back up in very rare occasions, cos you're most of the time just better off rotating urself rather than scanning that beacon which only makes you vulnerable. besides its actually about as fast to rotate yourself rather than scan it.

anyhow i wasn't here to discuss wether he needs one or not, how controversial it may be, respawn had actually announced before that they were gonna work on a new passive in the future (which they said over a year ago) and i was just looking if anyone has any information on this matter.
