Yea, the SBMM has a big issue. Big reason, why I left Fortnite, when I still played it. It never goes down. You can not play for a year, your skill will be the same. I haven't played for a couple days and I instantly get matched against really beast players, so I gotta grind so much just to get my mojo back. Ranked for some reason is easier than PUBs in lower tier, even in gold it is easier than PUBs, which is my skill level. How is it logical, that in Ranked I get matched more fairly than in PUBs. I get that in PUBs you get random players, but the majority I get are beamers and crackhead diamonds, masters and preds. Why can't the game lower my opponents skill, if I don't play for a while? I actually want to get back to a game, if I have left it for a while, but with these BRs it just isn't the case. Luckily this game has gotten enough popularity, where it can't really crash anymore, but new players are probs on a decline.

The lone Octanes and Wraiths are a different story, but so many times I get 3 stacks of diamonds against me and I have 2 noobs, who don't deserve to get wrecked by those diamonds.

@Quixidion
This problem is actually worse in other shooters though. Even though my pubs are crazy sweaty, my Arena pubs are even sweatier—other games like CoD and Halo have SBMM more akin to Apex Arenas.
The devs/publishers’ goal is the increase the likelihood that lower to average skilled players win— this is because they are the largest player demographic. The misconception is that SBMM is about “fairness” and its not. SBMM is a tool used to increase the likelihood that lower to average players are primed to spend money.
High ELO players are already going to spend money. They are hooked. That’s why no one cares that the game isn’t as enjoyable for them.
It’s December 2021 and I am still struggling to win my pubs. Pubs feel like Diamond Ranked. No one cares though lol. SBMM algorithms are only going to become more nuanced over the next decade or two. So I totally expect the notion of “casual gaming” to phase out for multiplayer games.- 4 years ago
SBMM in this game is just pure toxic garbage
- 4 years ago@Axs5626Sxa5001 You put things into words that I struggle with as English isn't my native language. Perfectly said. I would just like to add that, why would anyone think that it would be ok for a game to decide who you face or who you are teamed up with? Why would it be ok for factors outside of your own control to decide outcomes? People DO NOT REALIZE that they are basically participating in a puppet show like 70% of the time.

@Sand_spitterthat's how pretty much almost every game does it
- 4 years ago@Axs5626Sxa5001 , Yea, Arena games are horrible. I manage to get the same issue with them being fair for like 1 or 2 rounds, then it insta puts me in try-hard mode, but sometimes it just instantly does it. Weird game matchmaking, very unfair and I hate it a lot. Ever since Fortnite implemented that * feature, everyone started to use it, which I hate. Ever since that day I started seeing less and less bad players. In Apex, when it came out, I did play a bit, it wasn't an easy game at the time, when SBMM came out, I wasn't there to compare it, cos I almost didn't play at all, but idk, I didn't have much of a problem right before season 11, in season 11 I started to notice just how exponentially sweatier are the lobbies. Could it be because of Ash? No, because her pickrate has decreased, but it might be because of the map rotation. Storm Point is the WORST map in the game in terms of functionality. Such a bad map. You would think otherwise, but I just clearly see, that I do much better at World's edge than in Storm point. That said, I also get wrecked and matched over my skill level there, but Storm point makes it worse. The cannons suck, rotation is good, but because there are tridents, not the cannons, the animals are annoying as *, but do offer loot... at the cost of getting pushed and third partied, which just isn't worth it. So many issues with the map, but it looks good and that is the only +.
