Is Sheila Useless?

I'm asking players that have played quite a bit of Rampart. Was there a learning curve? Is her Ult useful? For the life of me, I can't use that oversized meat grinder on stilts. The sight is so bulky and blocks vision so much, and the flash! Oh the flash!! I can't see a single thing in front of me with that bonfire glaring across 70% of my screen. How are you supposed to hit anything when you can't see!?

Seriously, I'm genuinely curious. Are Rampart players finding this character's Ult useful? Should I stick with her and keep practicing? Or is it not going to get any easier? Like getting down to 3 squads left, in theory it sounds good to have a hunkered down high grounded set up with Sheila set up ready to go as people try to push into you with ring behind them. I'd rather have a 99 so I can see what I'm shooting at and land my shots.

  • @JimPinnuchiShe is not a bad Legend imo. But she is heavily dependant on a Squad that has any common sense and even a very basic understanding of strategy. But just like Wattson and Crypto, she seems to be cursed with a hidden debuff that makes your team mates 10000% dumber than a Pug on crack.

  • @JimPinnuchiI don't think it's useless. But it definitely takes a squad that's willing to play into using it. They have to be willing to rotate or hold positions where you can set it up and use it. Your team also has to be very aware of what's behind and to the side of you.

I will say I have been playing a lot of caustic this season. Most of the time that I bump into someone who has one set up, I throw my ult on them to force them off the mini gun. If I'm not caustic then I use thermite.

I'd bet if you ran a Ramp+Wattson team it would help. Interceptor tower+fences+walls+mini gun= some potential for really good fortification. Possibly a Crypto as a third, put that drone up to watch your flank/side.

The Minigun might need to have the ability to swivel 360 degrees.

The feedback was great guys! I also should have mentioned I have hardly any trouble against rampart. When she's got her ult up, Ramparts have tended to miss the majority of Sheila's shots. A grenade or two, and they're running scared. But yes, definitely team oriented. I used to play a lot of Caustic and had a high win rate with him compared to my other legends. It's just not worth it if team mates aren't interested in playing a game of patience and strategy.

  • @JimPinnuchi  Just think of Sheila as a suppression weapon.

You're pretty unlikely to knock anybody unless you completely catch them off guard, but you will be able to pin them behind cover with it quite easily (wraith excluded).

If you've got a good position late game you can use Sheila to really force mistakes out of your opponents.  Combo'ing her with wattson gives you some really good scope to create some nasty little killzones too but it takes some organisation, a premade is basically a requirement for a team composition like that.

Shiela is really good for getting damage on people at range, shooting people on ziplines and other areas where you have line of sight and you don't need to worry about accuracy.

I've found a fun way to use shiela is to pop her behind a door and shoot through when people are healing/reviving on the other side as she destroys doors.
