Is the Broken Ghost story baiting me or not?

I started being a consistent player last season, so this is my first time going through Apex's storytelling and it's WAY goofy-er than I would've expected. However, I'm feeling pretty shanked at this moment. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed, but season 5 has an overall romance theme going on, and I was admittedly overly expectant at first. I was sure that there was going to be some relationship between the Legends getting confirmed, but I gave up those dreams pretty quick. Then I got into the story and it feels like whoever comes up with it is messing with me. Between Mirage and Wraith kinda flirting, Lifeline seemingly being jealous of Octane's date, and Caustic losing his sheesh over Wattson's injury, I was really on the edge of my seat to see the next development in the Shipping Docks, but instead I get goofed on with Octane's note. I'm not really angry or saying the story should be different, but what am in for here? The story isn't over, is something going to happen?

    @SheepsKing Nobody knows except the writers and the closed circle of the knowers.

    You actually got goofed by the note? XD why would you think that that doped up adrenaline junky would confess his love for Lifeline (dont try to deny you weren’t thinking that)?

    You should watch more romcoms, romantic shows or anime. It never goes the way viewers intend to.

    Btw: How is the mirage-wraith flirtatious? I know the underlying flirt but from mirage side it seems like wanting to get to know wraith and from wraith side it’s clear annoyance. Not even the hard to get annoyance but actually the type that she wants to kill him xD

    @Koochi-Q See that's the thing is that I watch a ton of goofy romance anime, so as soon as I feel the rom-com energy I feel like a clown. I was literally saying "they're baiting me" out loud in between Ajay taking the note back and her revealing it's ending, but Im so hyped for the shipping that when it turns out to be a goof, I'm the one looking goofy. And talking about Mirage and Wraith, I meant during "the Cranky Clown" chapter, where they seem to be mostly on the outside of the group just talking to each other. Also for chapter 2, Mirage wanting to chat with her is a good sign, and while Wraith was definitely pissed at his shenanigans, having some sort of connection, even a mildly negative one, is better than having no connection right? Once again I am probably making something out of nothing, but I really want Mirage and Wraith to get confirmed.

    @SheepsKingNo, there’s definitely something and I’m also for the mirage-wraith ship (there’s a thread somewhere... I think it’s the S5 discussion thread where some of us are speculating and throwing theories) and you can check there that I’m not making it up. I just wanted to know why you saw it too :P I think however it’s not romantic but more weird friends... but I want to see the ship. She’s just that weird kid in anime who turns out to even be a tsundere when you get close but as soon as you break that layer she’s the cute girl... reminds me of Freezing.

    Which goofy ones have you seen?
