Leaving because they didn't get their main?

Hell, Overwatch has over 30 characters, and people still do it there. It's what happens when you have One Tricks. They literally can't or won't play anyone else, so they leave or throw the game.

"Main" players are different (at least in OverWatch). They heavily prefer a Hero or Role, but will play outside of them. They may not be as skilled with someone else, but they at least try.

But, either way, there isnt much you can do about it. People will play characters they like, and they won't play characters they dislike. Most anyone like the Devs could do is have leaver penalties and/or a better report system. But, sadly, you can't change player mentality.

Yeah, some people can be really salty.

Personally, I don't like to "main" characters, never did. Even in OverWatch (a game with over 30 Heroes), I play them all, to varying degrees.

In Apex, the reason I play a Legend, usually revolves around two or three things:

1. What challenges do I have?
2. What game mode am I playing?
3. Who do I feel like playing?

And, the priority of each one shifts depending on other factors. For example, if I have my battle pass done, challenges don't usually matter (except maybe events specific ones). And, if there's no LTM running that favors a certain playstyle, then that usually doesn't matter, you get the idea.

And, I know I've taken picks away from people, but it's not like I do it out of spite. There are just times I'm the first or second one to pick and then I'll see another teammate after I had already picked a Legend, had Wraith or whoever pre-selected. Oops, my bad.

But, instead of just playing someone else for the match, they will just leave. They rarely say that's why. But, If You pick a character, and then you see a teammate pre-selected a character, and then all of a sudden we're on the drop ship and they leave or we drop and they're AFK, odds are it's because they didn't get their Legend.

Honestly, as the teammate being left behind, it kind of sucks. I wish people wouldn't get that salty over things like that. However, I do somewhat understand it. At least from the viewpoint of "they just want to play a game, Play who they're best at or play who they can do challenges with, And if they can't do that they don't really want to play". And in an isolated context, I don't think that's a bad thing. The problem is, this isn't a single player game. Your choices are affecting other people and that's the problem.

I do wish there was an option for players like me to go to the last slot in the squad or a way to advertise that I play a bunch of Legends/I'm willing to grab someone else though. Because, in general, I usually wouldn't mind hoping off a character and letting someone else play them. I do that in OverWatch, all the time. But, in Apex, you can't switch Legends once you're locked in. So, not much I can do about it.
