Legend Concept: Morale

Legend Name: Morale

Real Name: Vincent Gold

Nationality: American

Skin Color: White

Eye Color: Blue

Hair Color: Black

Height: 5''9

Age: 21 (Current in-universe Age)

Representation Community: Neurodivergent

Disabilities: AHDH (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD Type: Hyperactive and Inattentive)

Lore:

"Vincent has a surprisingly good moral code and is very ethical in method, but due to his ADHD, he can be prone to hyperactive bursts, stims, and distraction. Vincent also seems to be more aware of sounds than others"

Vincent's Father, Jake Gold, was secretly a Frontier PIlot in hiding after barely escaping a battle during the last few days of the Frontier War and helped Vincent develop his moral code and ethics.

Vincent grew up watching the Apex Games and had a special fascination for Bloodhound (mainly due to Bloodhound showing Honor), Gibraltar (mainly due to Gibraltar's kindness and high spirits), and Wattson (Due to her kindness and often silliness).

Vincent's Mother, Victoria Gold (Whom Jake met after crash landing on a Populated Unnamed Outlands Planet overrun with corruption and helped Jake recover from the crash), also had ADHD but was considered High-Functioning and helped Vincent with his troubles with ADHD (along with a few medications he took regularly (Vincent specifically mentions Adderall as one of the meds).

Sadly one day a group of Rogue Mercenaries (some Ex-IMC) get a bounty on Jake and happen to follow Vincent to Jake's location after Vincent mentioned his father was a PIlot to his friends which the mercenaries overheard. They attacked Jake, fatally wounding him, but not without telling Vincent to not lose himself over Jake's death and to become better. Vincent takes Bats (a Modified R-301 that Jake helped make for Vincent) and manages to kill off the mercenaries, slightly traumatizing Vincent and his mother, but ultimately decides to join the Apex Games at 21 to help inspire people to be their better selves, and also to help support his mother and find a better place to relocate.

Class: Assault

Passive: Audio Sensitive: Can hear footsteps, gunshots, and any game audio from a longer range.

Tactical: Morale Boost: Vincent gives a "Hype Up" Speech, increasing confidence (irrelevant to gameplay) in nearby allies and increasing Vincent and all nearby ally's (in a 20-meter circle) Run Speed, Reload Speed, Strafe Speed, and Weapon Swap Speed by 25%% for 15 seconds. Recharges every 15 Seconds after the 15 seconds of use is over.

Ultimate: Bats (Enchanched R-301 (Called R-303 Carbine by Vincent): Similar to Vantage's Ultimate, Every 20 seconds Vincent will gain 20 bullets for Bats, with a max of 300 Bullets at 5 Minutes (Ultimate Accelerants will grant 120 Bullets). Bats fires at 900 RPM with 13 Damage per bullet in a 30-round mag, with less recoil than the R-301 due to Vincent's modifications added with a 2x-4x Variable AOG modded with Thermal Vision (sees through Bangalore's Smoke and Caustic's Gas).

  • I look at this and see another Rhapsody and Rampart mix.

The tactical could work but the numbers (especially availability) seems very high.

The ultimate is pretty much Shiela, and has a TON of bullets. R301 is hugely popular and you want a better one with basically free bullets, taking no space... yeah...NO.

The passive, depending on how it's implemented sounds like sound visualization in Fortnite which is a rather huge pair of steering wheels. Having it all the time makes him a scouting legend close to Seer if not better. And always accessible it makes it even worse + might not really fit with the ADHD theme as concentration also plays part.

Looks and story I don't care for so I won't comment on it other than it seems like we already have it, potentially minus ADHD which you might not notice in other characters anyway.

@DrWizardoThis is pretty good advice. What would you recommend I change to potentially make this concept better?

I do understand that the R-301 is hugely popular (as it is one of my favorite Weapons myself (my favorite loadout is the R-301 Carbine and Mastiff Shotgun), so now I understand that I should change that.

I do have ADHD (High-Functioning) and we can "Hyperfocus" on things, which means exactly how it's said (can have an extreme focus on a certain thing) and that's why it's always available (though Deaf people may have a problem using it so I'm going to change it as well).

@Versalord I'll think about it and get back to you.

My kid has Adhd and while he can get really into something, that usually means he's a bit zoned out. So it can be a bit hard to contact him or for him to switch out from that task 🙂

It's a fantasy world 700 years into the future tho, so a lot might be possible.

@DrWizardo Me and your kid are the same. Once I'm into something, I don't like being bothered while I'm trying to focus on the task.

    @Versalord

Did a bit of thinking and what stuck was "focus", "buff" and "ARs".

If you keep the idea of him being good with R301, but maybe make it all ARs, his passive could perhaps be that he has an "extra slot" in the backpack where universal AR-ammo is created over time. Something like 10 bullet per 10 seconds, up to what the current stack size for what class he is in is reached (80 for Assault, 60 for the others I think).

*I don't know if this ammo should be drawn from first on reload, or last. I feel first might be too powerful, but not sure.

    Passive: Backup plan.
Fabricates universal AR bullets over time.
These bullets can be used by energy, light and heavy ammo ARs.

For the tactical, maybe here you could have the focus part?
Let it be a multiple choice buff where you could either buff something like attack, movement or tactical abilities.

    Tactical: Focus.

Attack: Reduce recoil, weapon swap time and reload time, while increasing strafe speed.

Movement: Increase run speed, climbing height and jumping distance while also reducing the effects of slowdown when under fire and ring damage.

Strategic: Standing still or moving slowly grants minor regeneration, increased skill charge speed, lower sounds of restorative items and revives.

*Scout: While I would like minimal "wall-hackery", maybe some version of what you wanted with sound visualization could be here? Just put a unique twist on it.

For the ultimate, while I don't know if it's like that for you, maybe this could tie in with interaction/socializing and that it might be a rather draining ordeal. So here is where the team play comes in. Basically you share a buffed up version of the choosen tactical with the entire team. This is draining so you can only do it from time to time = ultimate.

Ultimate: "Team play" (placeholder name xD)

Team Attack: Same as "Fucus" + minor digi-threat overlay.
Team Movement: Same as "Focus" + additional climbing height, wall latch time, and fall-stun reduction.
Team Strategy: Same as "Focus" + minor shared healing to close allies.
Team Scouting: Maybe here enemies the team are shooting gets highlighted for a short while?

It would probably be more of a support than an assault type, but what ever 🙂

edit: took inspiration from the Crysis games where you have a suit that can adapt.

Edit 2: For identification, maybe add a colored/animated glow or unique sound when activating Focus/Team play depending on what skill is active. But likely not needed.

@DrWizardo This is a very good redesign! It would make sense with his name "Morale"! I didn't even think of most of these!
