The current argument is if you enjoy playing the game then you don't need to earn anything as you're already having fun. Lack of content has been an issue since release but we're apparently getting a new studio soon so that should increase in the future, i just hope it isn't to detrimental to the stability of the game.
People like to accomplish things while playing and while ranked is the end game thing to work towards, they have basically made predator rewards a full time job that excludes most casuals or those with a job or family.
If you're on PC i would suggest hyperscape if you want a fast shooting BR but i'm not sure when it's out on console. Soon though.
Ah, yes, that old argument. I'm quite familiar with it. I cant tell you how many times I've seen that same phrase on the Overwatch forums, by players trying to excuse/wave away the lack of content problem in that game. So, I can't say I'm surprised that people say that here as well.
And, you're right, people want new things to play with or new things to play toward. Having goals in gaming isn't a new thing. I don't know why it's looked down upon so much, these days. Wanting to have new things to play and do isn't crime. Hell, it's the whole formula behind any live service title. The idea is, you keep paying money (microtransactions) and the devs keep adding content to the game.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why people have an issue with "this game lacks content", when you're talking about something like Breath of the Wild. That is a big, expansive game. And, if you can't find things you occupy your time, I would agree that's mostly on the players. Same with a game like Animal Crossing or what have you.
But, games like this don't really function in that same way. there are limited numbers of maps to play, there are limited numbers of Characters to play, weapons to use. Eventually, things like that start to breed repetition (in a bad way), if something new isn't added or changed to "shake things up".
When you lose that "goal", you lose that drive, at least that's how it works for me and many other gamers that I know. My goals were finishing the past, and finishing the quest. Those are done, and other than mindless grinding levels or trying to grind Rank (which has never been fun for me in any game), I just don't see why I should play right now
As for your game recommendation, I've seen stuff about it but I'm not on PC, so I can't check it out right now. I think for now I'm just going to try and find some other game to occupy my time, or maybe watch some shows and movies I have on various streaming services, Like I said in my previous comment. And I guess I'll see you all for Season 6 lol
(For the record, I hope you understand that my comments about not caring for the "just play for the love of the game" arguments wasn't directed at you, specifically. I was just sharing how I've never really cared for that mentality and I was stating how I've seen a lot of other people say that on different forums as well. It seems to be a go to argument that I just don't really agree with.)
(I just wanted to tell you that, because I know sometimes tone is hard to judge in the written word and I didn't want you to think my comment was directed toward you, specifically. Honestly, I appreciate your comments on this topic and it's been a pleasure talking to you, man)
