Making console players and PC players cross-play by default would be foolish

I'm glad this post has become popular, but I still want to point out my original viewpoint. That is, the existing matchmaking system is sufficient for console players, so there is no need to automatically include next-generation console players in the PC matchmaking pool. No console player would appreciate being treated this way. If you don't believe it, you can conduct a survey instead of making direct changes, as it would only make things worse. However, we must also recognize that the current matchmaking mechanism on PC is not very friendly and adjustments need to be made for controller players on PC to make them less dominant.
